šŸ«€ FAQ: What does a cardiac electrophysiologist do?

Think of me as your heart’s electrician āš”ļø.
While general cardiologists focus on blood flow and blockages, I focus on the electrical circuits that keep your heart in rhythm.

That means diagnosing and treating rhythm disorders like AFib, SVT, and ventricular tachycardia — often with catheter ablation or pacemakers, using the latest fluoroless techniques.

I’ll answer in the comments or a future post.

AFib is the most common type of cardiac arrhythmia, and is characterized by an irregular heartbeat that can be fast, slow, or skip beats. It’s a serious condition that can lead to stroke or sudden death, and is associated with an increased risk of heart failure, chronic kidney disease, and dementia.
AFib is more common in older people, with prevalence increasing from 0.1% for people under 55 to 9.0% for people aged 80 or older. It’s also more common in men than women.
Some factors that increase the risk of developing AFib include: hypertension, diabetes, and obesity.
Early detection and treatment can help reduce the complications associated with AFib. However, many people with AFib are unaware of their symptoms, and the global burden of AFib is likely underestimated. .career
