" I had a massive bilateral pulmonary embolism on July 13th: blood clots in both lungs, which is often deadly. With quick action from first responders, I got lucky! This happened a few days after hip replacement surgery, and I want to explain exactly what happened so you can learn what to prevent and watch out for yourself. If you’re going to get surgery, you and your doctor need to think about the possibility of a blood clot. If you’re on testosterone or steroids, your risks may be increased, so it’s especially important you take precautions, including stopping steroids well before the surgery and making sure your doctor is aware that you’re on TRT and the hypercoagulable states it can cause.
