The sauna and cold plunge are two recovery tools available to BLU Members, and many people enjoy using them together as part of their wellness routine.

A simple approach is to begin by warming the body in the sauna for several minutes, followed by a short cold plunge before returning to the sauna again. This heat-and-cold cycle can be repeated a few times, depending on comfort and experience.

If you're new to contrast therapy, start slowly and allow your body time to adjust to both the heat and cold.

Many Members find this routine to be both energizing and restorative as part of their recovery practices.

Grip strength may appear simple, but it serves as one of the most powerful indicators of overall muscular health and longevity.

Research consistently links stronger grip strength to better physical function, metabolic health, and lower risk of age-related decline.

That’s why it is one of the Vitality Measures we track at BLU.

Because maintaining strength isn’t just about performance, it’s about preserving capability for life.

Longevity is not just about living longer.

It is about building more years where you feel strong, capable, and energized.

We focus on helping Members create more ThriveYears by combining science, lifestyle, and community into a single, integrated approach.

This means measuring what matters, building habits that support long-term health, and creating an environment where people can consistently show up for themselves.

The goal is not simply more years.
It is healthier years.

Longevity begins with measuring what matters.

We use advanced testing and data to better understand how the body is performing today and where there are opportunities to improve.

From cardiovascular fitness and body composition to metabolic health, individualized risk factors, recovery, and support systems, these insights allow us to move beyond guesswork and toward a more informed, proactive approach to health.

By tracking recovery and engaging with a supportive community, you gain not only the tools but also the encouragement to make lasting change. When you can see your data clearly and connect with others who share your goals, you can begin to make meaningful progress.

→ Next, we’ll show how this all comes together to help you build more ThriveYears.

Longevity can be improved through the right framework.

Our 3x5 Approach to optimize your healthspan focuses on three key areas:

1) the DRIVERS of how we live,

2) the RISKS that shape our health, and

3) the METRICS that reflect how our body is functioning.

Together, they create a clear roadmap to help guide long-term health and improve healthspan.

Better years don’t happen accidentally.
They are built with intention.

→ In the next post, we’ll show how we measure what matters.

What’s on your plate matters more than you think.

During Wellness Wednesday, we walked through simple, practical nutrition strategies that focused on building better habits that actually last.

Alli, BLU’s Café & Member Experience Coordinator mentioned:

• Building every meal with protein, fiber, and healthy fats
• Shopping the perimeter for real, whole foods
• Flipping the label, shorter ingredient lists win
• Focusing on swaps, not restriction

Small shifts → better energy, recovery, and long-term health.

VO₂ Max is one of the Vitality Measures we track at BLU because it is a powerful indicator of cardiovascular fitness and long-term vitality.

It reflects how efficiently your heart, lungs, and muscles work together to deliver oxygen throughout the body. It is a key marker of resilience, endurance, and healthy longevity.

One of our team members began her journey at BLU with a VO₂ Max of 25. Just 18 months later, she increased it to 41. A powerful reminder that with the right training, guidance, and consistency, the body is remarkably capable of change.

Small improvements over time can translate into meaningful gains in both performance and long-term health.

Balance and mobility are powerful predictors of how well the body will function over time.

As part of our Vitality Measures, balance and mobility are closely tracked because they reflect strength, coordination, and nervous system health, all of which are essential to maintaining independence as we age.

When balance, mobility, and stability are strong, the body moves with confidence and resilience.

The goal isn’t just staying active today. It’s preserving the freedom to move well for decades to come.

Most blood work tells you what’s “normal” and what’s “out of range.” That’s useful, but it’s only part of the picture.

Looking at patterns and trends helps turn lab data into something more meaningful: a way to understand where your health is headed, not just where it is today. If certain markers keep moving in the same direction over time, they paint a pretty clear picture of what the future could look like.

The real value is using that insight early, before problems show up, to change the trajectory. It’s not just about finding what’s wrong now. It’s about building a better outcome over the years ahead.
