Rogers doesn’t charge a fixed rate for the care he gives at his Fort Lauderdale office. Patients simply drop money into a small wooden box with a sign that says: “Give as you are motivated by your financial abilities and by the desires of your head and heart.” No one can either buy or sell Gods gift of health.”

Rogers sees about 200 patients a week at his Ft Lauderdale walk-in clinic at 909 NE 20

th Ave, which he established many years ago. Its open late, there’s no receptionist to make appointments — and no bill collector. He doesn’t advertise.

“Its hard to put a price on what I do,” he said. “I don’t have any children, I’m not married, and I don’t have any expensive hobbies…. People thought I was crazy, that this idea wouldn’t work, but I knew it would be OK.” Patients rave about his skill as a chiropractor and his concern for them. Actress Florence Henderson, of the Brady Bunch fame, met Rogers one winter when she hurt her back during rehearsals for the Florida Follies at the Parker Playhouse. She goes back for treatments when she visits South Florida. “I’d place him right up there in the top three probably, and I’ve been to them all over the world.” she said of chiropractors. “He’s so much about service and giving.”

Bruce Judelsi of Tamarac, who has been seeing Rogers for almost a year, said: “The Doctor has great hours and is very affordable.”

Rogers, a Brooklyn, NY native, keeps a strict exercise regimen, which includes swimming every day and going to the gym twice a week. He spent five years in the Bahamas teaching Yoga at the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Forest Academy before he decided to go back to school to become a Chiropractor. He enrolled in Life University’s College of Chiropractic in Marietta, GA., at age 45. “I knew I wasn’t going to have a traditional Chiropractic office when I began my classes,” Rogers said, “I just feel that Chiropractic care should be affordable to everyone.” He earned his Dr. of Chiropractic degree in 1996. The next year, he moved to NY to be with his brother who was dying of Cancer. After his brother died, Rogers traveled between the Bahamas and New York. In 1999, he moved to Miami to be with his parents, who were ill. In 2000, he opened the clinic on the honor system. “A lot of my chiropractic friends complain about the same thing: money,” Rogers said. “They complain about chasing down patients for payment and dealing with insurance. I don’t have that problem here.” Rogers invested $1,000 in the office. “I bought five gallons of paint,” he said. “The chiropractic tables were donated to me by a Chiropractor I used to work for. The chairs cost $9 at B.J.’s, and the television was donated. It’s all working out so far. Dr Jesse does charge an initial consultation fee of $50 since he spends more time with the patient
on the first visit.
