May is National Mental Health Awareness Month. During this month, let us take a moment to remember the interconnectivity of our mental health to our overall health. As they say, "health is wealth," and when it comes to our mental health, we hope that you will take a moment amid your busy schedules to remember to take care of YOU, including your mental health - take a break, take deep breaths, take a couple more sips of water, take a break from media, take a couple laps outside, or simply step outside to take a moment to take in some fresh air... Whatever you choose, we hope you take a moment to take care of YOU!

We also want to remind you that you are not alone. If you or you know anyone who is facing mental health struggles, emotional distress, alcohol or drug use concerns, or just need someone to talk to, the 988 Lifeline is available.

The 988 Su***de & Crisis Lifeline has caring counselors who are available 24/7/365 and you can call, text, or chat with one of them by contacting 988. They also support those who are deaf or hard of hearing via videophone. If you know of a veteran who is experiencing crisis, they also have a Veteran Crisis Line available. Send a text message to 838255. There is support for ALL!

For more information about the 988 Lifeline, visit: https://988lifeline.org/.

During this past holiday season, Rabbi David Gold represented L'Chaim as he was invited by chaplains of the Veteran Affairs Hospital, University of Miami Sylvester Cancer Center, Mercy Hospital, and Jackson Memorial Hospital to arrange a Chanukah celebration. Rabbi Gold also provided Hanukkah bags to each participant, which included a menorah, dreidel and chocolate coins. these bags were sponsored and put together by the Light Family, who continues to support our L'Chaim outreach efforts each year especially during the Jewish holidays.

Each facility had on average 15 persons from the staff, patients, families, and volunteers. In his visits, Rabbi Gold explained the significance of the Jewish holiday of Hanukkah and a meaningful lesson. Participants enjoyed Rabbi Gold's visit, and he was invited to return for the next Jewish holiday to arrange a celebration.

Thank you, Rabbi Gold, for being an extension of our Catholic Hospice and L'Chaim and sharing the beauty of Hanukkah to patients and staff at our local hospitals! We'd also like to thank the chaplains at these facilities for inviting us to arrange Hanukkah celebrations!
