Dancing Mindfulness & Expressive Art Therapy by Mindful Journey Center

Dancing Mindfulness & Expressive Art Therapy by Mindful Journey Center If you are the kind of person who likes to dance like no one is watching, or at least would like to try, the Dancing Mindfulness experience is for you!

Dancing Mindfulness classes are open to everyone regardless of previous experience with dance, yoga, music, meditation, or spiritual practice, even though Dancing Mindfulness incorporates all of these elements. Since Dancing Mindfulness focuses on “coming as you are,” self-discovery, and noticing whatever may happen as part of the experience, it is imperative that classes are crafted to welcome everyone. Dancing Mindfulness classes range from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the venue of and purpose for the class, and various forms of music are incorporated to create a welcoming, integrated container. In a typical Dancing Mindfulness class, participants will be able to realize the rhythmic qualities of their breathing and heartbeats, to discover the healing, lyrical properties in even the most simple movements, and quite literally, to be able to express their own, personal story on the dance floor.

This morning, walking to Terminal G7 at Fort Lauderdale airport, I noticed an art exhibition in the JetBlue terminal. They show art from their employees. For me, the most special part is that, between the lines, they are celebrating diversity. These are the ones that touched me.

New Dancing Mindfulness Facilitator Training!

Date: December 12-14, 2025

Dancing Mindfulness is a trauma-informed practice created by Dr. Jamie Marich that invites participants to explore mindfulness through movement.

No dance skills needed, just a willing spirit and an open heart.

In this training, you’ll learn how to lead powerful, healing classes grounded in the consensus model of trauma treatment (developed by Pierre Janet ), based on the three-stage approach:

Preparation – Building safety and resources
Trauma Work – Engaging memories with care
Integration – Making meaning and restoring wholeness

This model reminds us: trauma healing needs a beginning, middle, and end. Jumping into trauma work without proper preparation is not enough, and Dancing Mindfulness honors that rhythm.

Whether you’re a therapist, healer, or simply passionate about movement and presence, this training is for you.

Come move, breathe and create with us!

So happy to be home in Puerto Rico, teaching Day 2 of EMDR Training with Expressive Arts. During breaks… I get to visit my sunflowers, caterpillar, and hang out with Lucky Bones and Lilah. 🌿🐾 My nervous system is loving this rhythm.

With time, we learn what we truly enjoy, what we don’t, and—most importantly—what we believe. We start to notice the difference between what we were taught and what life has shown us to be true. That’s how we begin to walk our own path. And often, it’s a path we walk alone—until, somewhere along the way, we finally meet ourselves.

Inner exploration is an act of resistance. When life feels off, we often avoid feeling the hard feelings.

But there’s always a doorway— A way to express what words cannot hold.

Through writing, painting, movement, and stillness,
we give shape to our sorrows. Expressive arts become our witness,
our storyteller.

In this gentle back-and-forth, our inner parts learn to support each other.
How do you give your feelings a voice when words are not enough?.

There are times when spoken words fall short.
That’s when we turn to movement, art, and creativity—
to express what must not be silenced.

🌿✨ Expand Your Clinical and Self-Care Skills! ✨🌿

Join us for this training—part of the Certificate in Expressive Arts Therapy with Mindful Journey Center—where you'll explore how mindfulness, movement, and expressive arts can enhance healing.

🧘‍♀️ Mindfulness is the practice of noticing without judgment and staying present. Research has long supported its effectiveness in clinical work, and therapists continue to develop new ways to teach mindfulness for coping and distress tolerance.

💃 In this practice and curriculum , has been developed by Dr. Jamie Marich, we’ll focus on integrating dance/movement, mindfulness, psychodrama, and meditation into therapy. Learn how these approaches, rooted in Gestalt and person-centered traditions, can foster wellness and recovery.

This training is for therapists and mental health professionals looking to deepen their skills in expressive arts therapy while using movement as a pathway to mindful awareness.

Feeling your emotions and simply sitting with them can be a powerful daily practice.

We all experience sensations and emotions that may be hard to be with.

Would you be open to exploring what helps you sit with your feelings and sensations, and learn from them?

Give yourself the time to discover what supports you in this moment. Your needs may be different from others, and that’s perfectly okay.

As trauma therapists, we might mistakenly think that clients need complex techniques or special skills to feel grounded and centered.

In reality, many of us can find connection and grounding in the small, everyday moments of life.

Each moment can be an opportunity to pause, notice, and feel that sense of connection.
