Colorectal cancer is being seen more often in adults under 50, changing what many people have long believed about risk.

In this blog, gastroenterologist Paul Feldman, MD at Holy Cross Health, explains what's contributing to this trend, which symptoms should not be ignored and how factors like lifestyle and family history can play a role. He also highlights why conversations about screening are happening earlier and what that means for your care.

Getting out the door in the morning, managing school days or making it through a family dinner can all look a little different for every child.

On World Autism Awareness Day, we’re recognizing the importance of acceptance, understanding and support for children and families.

In a feature by South Florida Hospital News, Lisa Taormina, MOT, OTR/L from our Holy Cross Health Family Health Center in Oakland Park shares, “Every child deserves to feel understood and empowered so they can build confidence, grow and flourish in their everyday lives.”

Sensory-inclusive care helps create environments where children can feel more comfortable as they move through therapy, school and everyday routine.

Yvette Brown didn’t just survive colon cancer – she reclaimed her life.

With the guidance of Holy Cross Physician Group gastroenterologist Patrick Amar, MD and a coordinated care team, she is now 15 years cancer-free.

What stayed with her the most was the support beyond medicine – prayers, presence and a colleague who went to our chapel each day to lift her up and remind her that she wasn’t alone.

Yvette said, “I love that Holy Cross is faith based because I needed God and needed to be in an area that was about God and people who believed in God and medicine, because that was all the hope I needed to get through this.”

A colonoscopy is one of those screenings that’s easy to delay, but it’s also one of the most effective for catching problems early.

In this video, Holy Cross Health gastroenterologist Patrick Amar, MD explains how the procedure works and how physicians can identify and remove precancerous polyps during the same visit. One test can provide up to 10 years of protection.

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. If you or a loved one is overdue for a screening, now is the time. Schedule yours here:

Perimenopause is something millions of women experience, yet it remains one of the least discussed phases of a woman’s life. For too long, women have been told this is just part of getting older — and left to figure it out alone.

Holy Cross Health hosted a free community viewing party of The (M) Factor 2: Before the Pause – Perimenopause to ensure that women in our South Florida community no longer have to navigate this phase without answers.

Help us keep this conversation going– share this with someone who might need it.
