Satoshi Koike

Satoshi Koike, age 82, passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025.

Born on March 25, 1943, in Nagoya, Japan, Satoshi was the youngest son of the late Sota and Hanako Koike. After graduating from Aichi University, Satoshi set out to see the world. In the early 1970s, he journeyed from Japan to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he began working at a local restaurant called Sip n Steaks. There, he met Theresa King and together they welcomed their daughter, Kiyomi, whom he cherished deeply.

Satoshi spent much of his life in the restaurant business, a career that allowed him to share his love of food and people. He was especially fond of all things Italian: traveling to Italy, savoring Italian cuisine, and watching the Rocky “The Italian Stallion.” films. He especially enjoyed going to the movies and exploring Philadelphia’s Italian restaurants with his granddaughters, creating memories they will treasure forever.

Satoshi is survived by his beloved daughter, Kiyomi Soriano (née King); his son-in-law, Miguel Soriano; and his granddaughters, Yukiko Soriano and Esmeralda Soriano, all of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Daniel Vincent Mongiovi

With deep love and sadness, we announce the passing of Daniel Vincent Mongiovi, who departed this life peacefully on October 14th, 2025, at the age of 93. A devoted father, cherished friend, and lifelong mentor, Dan lived a life marked by integrity, perseverance, and generosity of spirit.

Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 25th, 1932, Dan built a distinguished career in sales, where he was admired for his sharp mind, an unwavering work ethic, and his ability to connect with people from all walks of life. After retiring from sales, he became an adjunct professor of Marketing and Management at St John’s University, where, until the age of 88, he inspired countless students with his experience, wisdom, and warmth.

Dan was a man of quiet strength and deep convictions. He loved sports and was an avid tennis and paddleball player, always up for a match and never short on energy. Dan made many lifelong friends playing paddleball at Brooklyn parks and shared his love of the game and many other sports with his sons. He was a longtime Mets fan — an affliction that his middle son also sadly inherited. Dan also enjoyed playing golf with friends and family — not for the scorecard, but for the laughter and camaraderie, even if his swing didn’t always cooperate.

His friendly nature, magnetic personality, and unwaveringly positive attitude earned him many friends throughout his life. Whether in the classroom, on the court, or around the dinner table, Dan had a way of making people feel seen, heard, and appreciated. He had a natural gift for making people feel like they were his best friend, because to Dan … they were.

Perhaps his greatest joy came from truly knowing and loving his now-adult children, his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He took immense pride in being a part of their lives and in the relationships, he nurtured with each of them.

The one great sadness in his life was the early death of his beloved younger brother Buddy four decades ago.

Dan is survived by his sons Gary, Steven, and Dan; his grandchildren Corinne Lysenko and Branden Mongiovi; his great-grandchildren Layla Rae, Hayley Paige, and Carmela Sofia; his former wife and the mother of his three children Carmela T. Mongiovi; and his longtime partner Carol Green, her daughter Dale, and son Michael. Dan will be remembered not for his long and successful professional career, but for how he made others feel — valued, respected, and loved. Daniel Vincent Mongiovi — truly one of a kind, and larger than life in so many ways. He will forever be remembered and forever missed by so many.

A service will be held at St John the Evangelist Church in Leonia, NJ, on Tuesday, October 21 at 11:00AM.

Tom was a loving brother to Terrie Birk and her husband Bob Birk, and to Bonnie Thorn and her husband John Thorn. He was also a dear uncle to Katie Thorn. Joan Costantino

June 16, 1935-October 12, 2025

Joan Costantino (née Sullivan), age 90, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2025, at her home in Ridgefield, New Jersey. Born on June 16, 1935, in West New York, New Jersey, Joan lived a life marked by strength, intelligence, and unwavering devotion to her family and faith.

A proud and devout Catholic, Joan was a longtime member of St. Matthew's Roman Catholic Church. Her deep faith was the cornerstone of her life and guided her every step. Those who knew her take comfort in the belief that upon her passing, she was welcomed into eternal peace with the words: “Well done my good and faithful servant.”

Joan was a remarkable woman whose presence left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her. A brilliant educator with a long and successful career as both a teacher and principal in Fort Lee, New Jersey, she touched countless lives—students and colleagues alike—with her wisdom, wit, and insight. She was known for her strength of character and sharp intellect, qualities that earned her admiration from peers and love from those she mentored.

Her professional accomplishments were matched only by her devotion to her family. Joan was the beloved mother of Susan McCord, Nicholas Costantino, Daniel Costantino, and the late David Costantino. Her children adored her deeply and were the recipients of her unconditional love—a love that shaped their lives profoundly.

Joan’s heart belonged to her grandchildren: Casey and Cuyler McCorkindale; Emma, Samantha, Aidan, and Makenna Costantino; and Catherine Bauer, daughter of David Costantino. To Joan, they could do no wrong. She adored each one of them with boundless pride and joy. Her eyes would light up at the mention of their names; they were truly the treasures of her life.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief at Joan’s passing, we are filled with gratitude for the years we shared with such an extraordinary woman. Her legacy lives on through the many lives she influenced—as an educator who inspired excellence, as a mother who gave endlessly of herself, and as a grandmother whose love knew no bounds.

We will miss Joan for the rest of our lives—but we carry forward her spirit in every lesson learned from her wisdom, every memory warmed by her laughter, and every act of kindness inspired by her example.

May her memory bring comfort to all who knew and loved her. Joan will be waked October 17, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Frank Patti Funeral Home, 327 Main Street, Fort Lee. A Funeral Mass will be held on October 18, 2025, 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at St. Matthew's Church 555 Prospect Avenue, Ridgefield. In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
