Madigan Orthopaedic Residency

Madigan Orthopaedic Residency Official resident-run page of the Madigan Army Medical Center Orthopaedic Residency Program. We take three residents per year, and are a five year program.

Madigan is one of the six medical centers in the army that has an orthopaedic surgery residency program. On average, our residents perform over 1,500 cases throughout their residency. During the five years, we rotate through various institutions to include Harborview Medical Center, University of Washington Northwest Medical Center, Seattle Children's Hospital, Shriners Children's Hospital in Spok

ane, Puget Sound Orthopaedics, and Olympia Orthopaedic Associates. 18.6 miles, 25lbs, and a whole lotta blisters later, the MAMC Ortho Department crushed the Norwegian Foot March this morning. We had 8 residents (and PA fellow), 1 attending, and 2 incredible clinic nurses complete the event with >90% passing!! Excellent work folks!

Happy Graduation to our class of 2025 who graduated on Friday!!! We are so immensely proud of you all and the surgeons you have become.

Graduation was a blast with highlights of the night including:
-A tribute to Dr. Kang and his extraordinary time as program director. We cannot thank you enough for all that you have done for this program!
-Recognition of Dr. Pavey as educator of the year - a well earned title!
-Return of the ‘how well do you know your chief game’- it was a close game between Brooke and Mike and Anthony and Colby
-And a perfect end to the night with Karaoke at our favorite spot

Thank you to all of our attendings who came and supported our residents and thank you to the Madigan Ortho Foundation for its generous support subsidizing the event.
