Reading this again this evening and realizing this is still great advice.
Forgiveness is so important because God commands us to forgive, and unforgiveness leaves us stuck! Which is probably why God stresses the importance of Forgiveness, because he doesn't want us to be held back. Also, because He has forgiven us of so much, and we are not better, or more holy than God, so we should definitely not hold onto unforgiveness!
One person we tend to forget we need to forgive when thinking of our list of people who have harmed us is ourselves!! You got that right forgive yourself for not being where you expected you'd be, for saying yes that time you should have said no! Or saying no when you should have said yes, for losing your patience with your child when they asked for candy for the 100th time after you already said no! For not standing up for yourself, and for letting others take advantage of you. For not answering that call from a friend who was struggling. And anything else lingering!
Also forgive God! Bad things happen, terrible, heartbreaking things happen but God didn't do that to you.. There is a very real enemy who wants to kill, steal, and destroy and he loves that you are blaming God for his work! It is ok to tell God you are mad at Him, but you HAVE to work on forgiving and seeing the truth that He isn't your enemy!
Forgive all those people who hurt you, whether they are sorry or not. Strip them of their access to your emotions and your feelings. To that person who violated you, that parent who chose drugs over you, The spouse who abandoned you, That friend who neglected you. That coworker who lied about you and got everyone to believe them. The sibling Who didn't have your back like you have always had theirs.
You can't drink the poison and expect your enemies to die!
FORGIVE THEM SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE THAT SPACE THAT WAS DEDICATED TO HURT, BE FILLED WITH PEACE, JOY AND LOVE.
I understand completely that it is not as easy as just knowing you need to forgive. I would love to you be set free. Message me!
