When your child gets sick their body is not breaking down or failing; it is actually gearing up!

Childhood illness helps teach and train the immune system how to work.

If you picture your body as going into battle....fever, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes, and mucus are all signs you're getting to work to fend off the enemy.

When in battle, your spleen + lymphatic system is stimulated to transport infection-fighting white blood cells and filter waste, toxins, and bacteria. This all allows your body's defense system to learn, remember, and respond to invaders.

The mucus that builds after all of this is not the enemy. This is simply a response of cleaning debris after the battle is won.

The more time you spend with your child, the stronger this connection becomes. As you begin to notice different patterns, movements, likes, and dislikes, you are more in tune with things that seem out of the norm.

In the early stages of life, when they cannot verbally communicate, your maternal connection serves that purpose. If you feel as though something is unlike normal behavior, you are probably right. ✅
