Asthma flare-ups are often caused by everyday triggers. Knowing them helps prevent attacks and keep symptoms under control:
Infections – colds, flu, RSV can worsen asthma.
Smoke & pollutants – avoid cigarette smoke, smog, and strong fragrances.
Indoor allergens – dust mites, mold, pet dander.
Outdoor allergens – pollen, mold spores; keep windows shut on high days.
Pets – dander and saliva can trigger flares.
Weather changes – cold, dry air or sudden shifts irritate airways.
Exercise – warm up, pre-treat if needed, keep meds handy.
Insect stings – can cause rapid symptoms in allergic kids.
Stress/emotions – anxiety and strong feelings may worsen asthma.
Minimizing exposure reduces how often and how severely flare-ups happen.
