Storms are powerful. They bring lots of darkness and calamity with them. But they’re also really good at clearing paths and providing new and clear foundations.

Not every storm is productive, some of them truly are just destructive storms. BUT, there are some that were meant for harm but turned out to be the exact clear path you needed.

I wonder how many times we’ve begged for something to be removed for us when after a while it turns out to be the best thing that happened to us?

You know why I’m a counselor? Because of pain. You know why I’m a great mom? Because I had a very troubled one. You know why I’m a believer? Because I had much sin and destruction.

You see, it is only with Jesus that our greatest pains can also be our greatest redemptions.

There are so many devices out there today that offer relief. You don’t even have to go looking for them, they come to you. A sale on Amazon, an enticing pornographic email, a flirty coworker, a invitation for a drink, on and on the list goes.

The problem is, these things only offer relief, they don’t deliver it. If you want to get better, healthier, stable, secure, whatever, you have to show up, uncover the real issue, face it, fight it and put it to rest!

Trusting God is so much easier to just read about in scripture than it is to apply in real life, isn’t it?

We are people with opinions, ideas and thoughts on how things should go and one of them unlikely involves suffering of any kind.

The reality is, trusting God is what’s best, EVEN WHEN, it doesn’t feel like it. His provisions are greater than anything we could come up with. At the end of the day, the more we know Him, the easier it is to trust Him.

Nope, not today Satan. Don’t let the enemy deceive you into thinking someone else has control over you. God has given you peace and no one gets to take that away from you.

If someone else is dictating how your day is going then you have given them too much power. Sure, it’s ok to be upset about things or even with others, but then we get to pray, refocus, and regain the peace that He has given us. Even in hard things, peace can be present. It just depends on who you’re giving your problems to.

One of the best ways to feel better yourself and make a difference in this world is to take the time to sit with the hurting. Check in on people.

We were created to rejoice with those who rejoice and mourn with those who mourn. We are made to be lights that shine in this dark and hurting world.

Take the time today to reach out. Check in on someone. Let them know you care, you’re praying and you’re there for them.

We all need each other.
