Lakeside Audiology has hit double-digits! We are now a decade old and so very grateful for the individuals and families who have trusted us to provide excellent hearing healthcare over these past ten years.

There are many people who have been a part of the building and sustaining of Lakeside Audiology. It has been a team effort from the very beginning, which is why celebrating our office birthday with some fierce games of pickleball seemed like the perfect fit. Thank you to Dr. Jensen who has been with us since 2017, and Dr. Van Bosch who has already made a big impact in just her two short years since joining our team. We say we are small but mighty, and we mean it.

Lastly, thank you to my family.....to Andrew, our girls, and my parents. Truly, I get to do what I love everyday because you've had my back from the very beginning. May God receive all Glory!

At the time I opened Lakeside Audiology, my oldest daughter was seven years old. Today, she had a few unexpected hours of free time and graciously offered to come by the office to help me with whatever needs we had. What high school Junior does that? She’s remarkable. And don’t even get me started about the message she left on the smoothie she brought me….🥰

As pediatric certified Audiologists, we see first-hand how loss of the EHDI (Early Hearing Detection & Intervention) funding would mean delayed identification, which would lead to significant developmental delays and loss of productivity for children with hearing loss over their lifetimes. It is essential that we maintain the current funding levels to support the implementation and continued refinement of our efforts to intervene as early as possible, which ensures children born with hearing loss have the same opportunities as their normal hearing peers.

EHDI staffing and funding is currently under pressure. It is essential that newborn hearing screening and state programs that support early detection and intervention are fully funded and staffed to ensure the best for our children.

Dr. Block attended the South Carolina Academy of Audiology conference last week. In her words, "Collaborating and meeting with other audiologists across the state of South Carolina has to be one of my favorite things. What a great time learning from each other and pushing each other to do our very best."

What have we been up to lately?!? Just teaching the next generation about the wonderful world of Audiology!

Dr. Block recently enjoyed working with these high school students from the Fort Mill School District who are interested in working in health sciences. They are an exceptional group, and we were excited to show them what a dynamic audiology practice looks like. Who knows, maybe the next Doctor of Audiology is in this bunch!

There are times when we look around and say, "how lucky are we to be able to provide such a service to our community?" This was one of those moments....an adorable newborn peacefully sleeping on her mama for her newborn hearing evaluation. It doesn't get any better than that!
