Think you might have the flu? Here’s what to do to take care of yourself and protect others:

- Stay home and rest. Avoid work, school or public places. Rest helps your body fight the infection and prevents it from spreading to others.

- Monitor your symptoms. Keep track of severity, duration and any changes in symptoms like fever, chills, cough, sore throat, body aches, fatigue, headache, runny or stuffy nose.

- Hydrate and manage symptoms. Drink plenty of water or herbal tea. Over-the-counter medications can help with symptoms. Avoid alcohol and smoking.

- Seek medical care if needed. Call your healthcare provider if you experience trouble breathing, chest pain, severe weakness, confusion, persistent high fever or worsening symptoms, especially if you are pregnant, older or have chronic conditions. Early treatment can help reduce complications.

- Protect your community. Cover coughs and sneezes, wash your hands frequently and stay home until you’ve been fever-free for at least 24 hours without medication.

Congratulations to Keightlyn "Katie" Sack for being honored with the BEE Award at Valley View Medical Center! Whether she is hunting down the "Cadillac of wheelchairs" to ensure a patient’s comfort or spending extra time coordinating with doctors to protect a guest from getting the wrong test, Katie is a true advocate for everyone she meets.

Patients describe her as the "total package" who remembers names and stories, using her quick wit and bright smile to cheer up those facing difficult visits. One family even noted that while she was calmly training a new staff member, she still made them feel like they were #1 in her book rather than just a number. Please join us in celebrating our "Superstar" registration expert for her incredible compassion and efficiency! Congratulations to all of the nominees!

Congratulations to Wendy Blakely, RN, our latest DAISY Award honoree!
When a patient accidentally lost a cherished family heirloom during an ER visit, Wendy went out of her way to track it down and return it — bringing immense relief and gratitude to the patient and their family.
Her compassion extends beyond the bedside, too. When a mother and her young child arrived at the hospital in need of help after a roadside emergency, Wendy stepped in personally to make sure they got home safely.
Thank you, Wendy, for reminding us that healthcare is about so much more than medicine — it's about heart.
Congratulations to all of our incredible nominees! Being nominated for the DAISY Award is an honor in itself, and we are proud of each and every one of you.

Congratulations to our January Employee of the Month, Brianna Paul!

Brianna, a member of our Environmental Services team, exemplifies what it means to make moments matter for our patients.

During a recent patient round, Brianna entered a patient's room and introduced herself, asking, "Is there anything I can do to make your stay better?" When the patient mentioned being cold, Brianna immediately got a warm blanket and made sure she was comfortable before cleaning the room. She even thanked the patient for allowing her to provide care.

This level of compassionate service is just who Brianna is. Staff members share that she regularly goes above and beyond—whether it's checking with nurses to bring a patient water or simply taking the time to connect with those in our care.

Brianna, your kindness and dedication don't go unnoticed. Thank you for the extraordinary care you bring to Valley View Medical Center every single day.
