This gives us an opportunity to raise awareness about the impact of these injuries and the ongoing advancements in research, treatment, and support. According to the United Spinal Association, a spinal cord injury refers to any damage to the spinal cord from trauma, disease, or a degenerative disorder. These injuries can affect motor, sensory, and autonomic function.

Throughout this month, we highlight the resilience and strength of those affected by these injuries, and we also emphasize the importance of fostering accessible environments and promoting inclusivity.

Muscular dystrophy (MD) is a group of diseases that causes progressive muscle weakness and a loss of muscle mass. There are several types of MD that affect specific muscle groups. Symptoms can begin in childhood or adulthood and also vary in severity. Currently, there is no cure for MD.

Aveanna is honored to show our support for individuals and families impacted by MD across the nation. Together, we can nurture empathy, kindness, and optimism for each individual touched by this disease.
