Costumes are fun — but don’t let a spooky look turn into a scary injury!

132 patients, 111 glasses, 6 volunteers, 2 days! What a whirlwind of a weekend! Dr. Smith and his wonderful staff spent the weekend in Jamaica giving away glasses and completing free eye exams. Myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness) are common refractive errors of the eye. This means the eye doesn’t bend (refract) light correctly, leading to blurred vision.

Are your arms shrinking, or are your eyes aging?

After the age of 40, many people develop Presbyopia. This is a normal part of aging, not a disease.

Presbyopia is an age-related vision condition where the eye gradually loses its ability to focus on nearby objects.

It happens because the lens inside your eye becomes less flexible over time, and the surrounding muscles can’t change its shape as easily. This makes it harder to read small print, use a phone, or do close-up tasks without holding things farther away.
