New Study Shows Promise for Low-Dose Radiation in Knee Osteoarthritis Relief!

A recent clinical trial has shown that low-dose radiation therapy (LDRT) can significantly reduce pain and improve mobility in patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis—without serious side effects.

During the ASTRO 2025 press briefing, Dr. Kristina Mirabeau-Beale shared her expert insights on this international, randomized trial, highlighting the potential of LDRT as a non-drug, non-invasive treatment option, especially for patients who currently rely on opioids for pain relief.

The study found that just 6 sessions of LDRT led to greater improvements in pain and mobility than placebo treatments. With growing interest in the U.S., LDRT is emerging as a safe and effective treatment for managing knee OA.
