Our outstanding culinary team just launched Taste of Memory! This heartfelt program invites Cypress Cove residents to share their most cherished recipes—and the stories behind them. Chef Luis then recreates the dish, inviting the resident and their family for a special tasting. The recipe is also featured as a limited-time special on our menu, celebrating memories made around the table. ❤️

Our very first Taste of Memory spotlight was Mr. Oaks and his unforgettable Deviled Crabs. 🦀 His story begins in Easton, PA, where his father owned Ken’s Delicatessen inside the Arcade Market—an indoor marketplace anchored by a bustling seafood counter. In 1947, while Mr. Oaks was still in elementary school, the deli became a true family tradition.

Each Wednesday evening, he and his mom would pick through 14 pounds of fresh crab meat to prepare their beloved crab cakes. After mixing, shaping, breading, and frying, they would have 84 crab patties ready to sell for just 65 cents each—and every one would be gone by Saturday night.

"Deviled crabs were always a favorite,” Mr. Oaks shared. “Over the years, Connie and I loved hosting ethnic and themed dinner parties—and deviled crabs often made an appearance as an appetizer.”

A cherished recipe, recreated by Chef Luis, that celebrates heritage, connection, and the flavors that leave a lifelong impact.

It has been two years since we fully integrated The Mead Therapy Center team into our Cypress Cove operations—on June 20, the seamless transition began. Since then, our enhanced therapy offerings have driven better resident outcomes, while our campus-wide movement and wellness programs have helped everyone stay active and energized.
