Hildegard's Christas Cookies originally appeared in various editions between 2010 and 2014 released as part of the "Yuletide Traditions" line from Ethereal Aromas Incense Company. This blend was originally inspired by the historical "Cookies for Preventing Sadness" from Hildegard von Bingen (1098-1179). This new incarnation incorporates a more rounded out mix of resins and further additions to help bring out that cookie feel.

The recipe is primarily based in Omani Hojary frankincense with a couple other Boswellias added to the mix. The resin base is grounded with Sea-Kissed "sweet myrrh" Erythraea and bit of true Yemeni Commiphora myrrha, sweetened with a touch of Sumatran benzoin. A delectable blend of spice oils of cinnamon bark, nutmeg, ginger, clove, West Indian bay, star anise and orange have been infused into the resin mixture. Richened with butter CO2 and sugared with balsam and almond. Blended with fine white birch, cassia, and Aetoxylon "crocodile wood". Hand rolled in the original "Christmas cinnamon" Cinnamomum verum from Sri Lanka. Hand-made, all-natural, for electric and charcoal censers.

Caribbean Harvest Incense is back with an official release from the incense studio. The initial concept first appeared last year as a very small batch which was created during a live event. I loved it so much that I brought it back for an official release this year!

This first official edition is primarily based in Protium copal from Guatemala blended with a variety of copal (Bursera and Protium spp.) and my Sea-Kissed Myrrhs (mainly Commiphora erythraea and myrrha) which are created using the elements of the local coastal shoreline. The additions of the resins of tolu, lignum vitae, dragon's blood and shaved tonka beans bring their deep and mysterious sweet appeal, which were then infused with a mix of sweet spices, citrus, culinary herbs, and floral oils. The darker musky and leathery depths of the aromatic spectrum emerge with a touch of oakmoss, nagarmotha, West Indian bay, seaweed, amyris and others. Blended with excellent palo santo and Hawaiian sandalwood powder and hand rolled in powdered allspice and birch. Hand-made, all-natural, for electric and charcoal censers.

Holy Lemoncense Incense returns for the first time in over a decade! The very first edition was released by Ethereal Aromas Incense Co between 2012.

This new edition is based in a very special batch of Neptunian Frankincense (Boswellia dalziellii) made here on our local shores and sweet golden Boswellia ameero from Socotra and a rich golden “honey” Hojary (Boswellia sacra) from Oman. Sweetened with a touch of Thai benzoin and American styrax, and infused with the warmth of the ancient sun through the addition of Baltic amber. Blended with a sweet medley of lemon, litsea, sandalwood, amyris, ylang ylang, vanilla and others. Mixed with "lemon" sandalwood from the island of Timor, antique agarwood from the Nation of Brunei and fine white birch bark powder. Hand-rolled, all-natural, for electric and charcoal censers.

You can now come see the torchwood (Burseraceae) resins from my private collection on display this summer at the Sanibel Public Library!

The collection features 46 specimens from the incense tree family including species of Aucoumea (okoumé), Boswellia (frankincense), Bursera (copal), Canarium (elemi), Commiphora (myrrh), and Protium (copal).

The display will probably run through mid July. Hours are 9:00 - 5:00 Monday - Friday and 9:00 - 1:00 on Saturdays.

PS: things have been fairly quite at the Incensarium over the past 6 months, but I do plan on returning with new products later this year. All things considered, post-hurricane Ian life is slowly stabilizing as we find our feet planted firmly on the ground.

Sketch of the Green Heron (Butorides virescens) for this month’s installment of the Birdwatcher. These birds are known for being highly aggressive. I tried to capture some of their “personality” here 😆

The local Bromeliads are in full bloom. I am new to the study of this particular plant family, but this appears to be the Cardinal Airplant (Tillandsia fasciculata). These were huge and growing on a cypress. I like to refer to them as “Tree Pineapples” 😆

Just got back home from a mini 26 hour vacation… currently testing out the Birth of Aphrodite incense. It is divine!

I still have work to do on it before it can be released… mainly artwork creation and pricing. I am beyond happy with this one! And what form will this take? The premium ingredients lend towards the incense “pearl” form, but it sure looks like the “beach sand” form might be in order 🧐

It would make a delicious roll on perfume, but the high concentration of Styrax makes me concerned about skin sensitivities. So many possibilities lay ahead.
