Boom!

We're pleased to announce we have broken ground on our brand new Hunger Action Center!

Demand for hunger relief services in Southwest Florida has reached unprecedented levels, with even middle-class families now relying on us due to housing challenges and the rising cost of living. At the same time, federal funding for hunger relief remains uncertain, underscoring the urgent need for strong, local philanthropic support.

To meet both current and future needs, construction is underway on the Harry Chapin Food Bank Hunger Action Center - a new hunger relief hub that will not only increase access to nutritious food but also allows us to support our Feeding Network of 175+ agencies across SWFL while addressing the root causes of hunger.

According to a recent report by Florida National Association of Mental Illness (NAMI) approximately one in five adults in Florida experience a mental illness each year, a statistic consistent with national averages. This means roughly 6.4 million Florida residents live in areas with a shortage of mental health professionals, and over 3.5 million Florida adults live with a mental health condition annually.
