Husband had surgery here six years ago. A friend asked about it recently and sending the Google link we realized we never left a review and definitely should have. We live in NC and husband needed a hernia repair but did NOT want mesh. He found this doctor and set it all up. They even helped us with some local hotel discounts. Procedure went well and they ended up repairing an additional hernia as well they found once in there. The staff was great! We followed up a few days later and then flew back home. It was seamless. No issues and he healed nicely. Lots of people travel to use Dr Tomas. We would definitely use Dr Tomas again if needed.

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Tomas and the team at U First Health. I’m currently recovering from my second inguinal hernia surgery, and once again, I couldn’t be more pleased with the care I received. We first traveled to Fort Myers, FL in 2022 for a hernia repair on my left side. Within six months, I was lifting heavy in the gym with a full and complete recovery—truly remarkable healing. Many of my friends who’ve had mesh repairs have told me they can still feel the mesh even years later. It’s always in the back of their minds to take it easy or be extra cautious. That’s not been my experience at all. Three years later, I developed another hernia on my right side. Living in Northern California, we researched several other facilities that perform hernia repairs. After numerous interviews and a lot of research, we decided to make the cross-country trip back to Fort Myers, FL to see Dr. Tomas again—and I’m so glad we did. After surgery, Dr. Tomas informed me that the hernia was larger and more complicated than expected, but everything went very well. I’m now in my second week of recovery and feeling great—healing quickly and steadily. The entire team at U First was warm, welcoming, and incredibly professional. From the front desk to the finance office, the nurses, and of course, Dr. Tomas himself—every single person was compassionate and caring. Like I said at the top of this review: I cannot recommend these folks highly enough. Absolutely 5 stars.

There aren’t enough stars for this practice. I have been putting this procedure off for 15+ years. I still train heavy, and the hernia was really starting to hurt in the last couple of months, so my research began. After researching Mesh procedures and the complications that come with that procedure, I was fortunate enough to find Dr. Tomas through my Google search. After reading the reviews, I made the consultation. Of the numerous patients in the waiting room, over half were from out of state. You really must be good at what you do to have that many clients come from all over the country, I consider myself blessed to live 20 minutes away. Dr. Tomas and Desarda explain everything in simple terms and are extremely easy to communicate with. The day of the procedure, the first thing I noticed was the facilities are immaculate! The Nurses, Anesthetist and the entire staff are just excellent. Great follow up, great post op instructions and all the support you need. I really can’t put into words how great the Dr., support staff and facilities are. Thank you, Dr. Tomas and staff, you guys are the best at making patients feel valued and cared for!!!!!!!!!

Live in Ohio and specifically flew to Florida to see Dr. Tomas. He was doing the procedure I wanted as I didn't want the mesh for my umbilical hernia. Surgery was about 40 minutes and the pre-surgery consultation answered my questions and concerns. Post surgery was as expected and straightforward with none to very little discomfort. Been back for 2 post operative consultations with Dr. Tomas and he was attentive and answered any questions. I recommend Dr Tomas as I give him and his support staff top review. Happy I went to see him.

I cannot thank Dr. Tomas and the U First Health staff enough! I hope this review can help others like me that were nervous about the procedure to get it done and get back to feeling normal again! I did a ton of research about hernia operations after mine got to a point I wasn’t comfortable working as a 32y/o bricklayer and not able to get into surgery for 6+ month(central Illinois). I didn’t like the idea of mesh due to all the bad stories I had heard from talking to people over the last 3 years of dealing with my hernia. So I narrowed my options down to going to Canada or U First Health in Fort Myers. I’m so happy with my decision in choosing Dr. Tomas. They got me in before I was even able to talk to my local surgeons about a mesh procedure. I started with the intake processes over the phone and online with Debra who was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Still quite nervous, I got down to Fort Myers as fast I could in hopes of getting back to work in the spring. I made it to my pre op appointment and was greeted by caring and professional staff that truly make U feel First! It was still a lot for me to take in due to having a heart surgery as a kid so nerves were high but the staff and patients around made me feel better and better about the process. The next day I was back and there for surgery. My operation went great and I was back at the hotel in under 5 hours from when I walked in. I was lucky enough to be able to recover in Florida almost 4 weeks and stayed off of alico rd by the airport at the Homewood Suites due to the amazing breakfast and how great the location was with a gas station and numerous eating places across the street that I liked going to more but their recommended Marriott is also a good location and will be a little cheaper. The First few days were tough adjusting to things like getting in and out of bed and remembering to not lift anything heavier than 10lbs, but you just have to trust the process and do everything these professionals tell you! Walking, hydrating, and eating clean I felt was key to the recovery during the first weeks of recovery. Today is 6 weeks post op for me and I am now fully confident in leaving a positive review! all of my healing pains have subsided and I’m walking multiple miles at a time. I’m planning on cautiously going back to work as a bricklayer in 2 weeks. Dr. Tomas and U First Health have truly been a blessing for me! Thank you again!
