Kratom is often seen by people as an alternative to opioids because it acts on the brain the same way when taken in higher doses. Unfortunately, this also means that kratom has a somewhat similar addiction potential.

SALUSCARE CAN HELP! Text 239-275-3222 today!

As with other substances with opioid-like effects, kratom can cause tolerance, cravings, and dependence. Eventually, this can lead to physical and psychological withdrawal symptoms when people stop using it.

Help is just one text away. 📱

We are pleased to welcome Sally Brumfield, CSA, to the SalusCare Board of Directors!

Sally serves as the Development Director for the Legacy Foundation at Shell Point, where she leads efforts in fundraising, donor relations, and strategic initiatives that strengthen and sustain the Shell Point community.

Since moving to Southwest Florida five years ago, Sally has become an active and engaged community leader. She has served as Co-Chair for Women in Business through the Greater Fort Myers Chamber of Commerce, on the Executive Committee for the Go Red for Women Luncheon and has supported many other nonprofit causes throughout the region.

A Certified Senior Advisor (CSA), Sally brings both professional expertise and personal passion to her work.

In recovery for more than 15 years, she lost her sister to addiction and mental illness two years ago, an experience that deepened her commitment to supporting organizations like SalusCare, which provide compassionate care for those most in need, regardless of the ability to pay. Sally is especially proud that SalusCare recently has been designated as the Central Receiving Provider for Lee County.

During our adult lives, a large proportion of our time is spent at work. Our experience in the workplace is one of the factors determining our overall well-being. Employers and managers who put in place workplace initiatives to promote mental health and to support employees who have mental disorders see gains not only in the health of their employees but also in their productivity at work. A negative working environment, on the other hand, may lead to physical and mental health problems, harmful use of substances or alcohol, absenteeism and lost productivity.

At SalusCare, we use Heartmath as a tool to reset and refocus in our work settings.

Mental health affects everyone. While one in five U.S. adults experiences a mental health condition annually, the impact extends to the friends, family, coworkers, and others who support them. Mental health is something we all experience, manage, and need support with. No one should have to face these challenges alone.

SalusCare is here to help. Call or text 239-275-3222 for help today!

October's designation as Depression and Mental Health Screening Month serves as a vital reminder of the importance of mental health awareness and proactive care. This month encourages individuals to take time to assess their mental well-being and seek professional help if needed. Mental health screenings are essential tools that can identify symptoms of depression and other mental health conditions early on, allowing for timely intervention and support. By promoting these screenings, we can reduce stigma, foster open conversations about mental health, and empower people to prioritize their mental wellness. Whether through community events, online resources, or visits to healthcare professionals, taking part in mental health screening can be a transformative step towards a healthier and more balanced life.
