Living in the Sunshine State has its perks, but with Florida’s year-round UV exposure, sun safety is a must.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the U.S., and it doesn’t matter your age, background, or skin tone, everyone needs to protect their skin. Just 15 minutes of unprotected sun exposure can cause lasting damage.

Dr. Audrey Wagner, family medicine physician with Lee Health, shares her expert advice on:
✅ Choosing the right SPF
✅ Daily sunscreen use (even in winter!)
✅ Why UV protection matters for everyone—including kids
✅ Sun-safe habits to protect your skin and eyes year-round

Remember: Prevention is powerful. Don’t wait for sunburns to make changes.

Stay safe and enjoy the sun the smart way!

There is HOPE in the fight against Pancreatic Cancer.
That was the powerful message shared by Dr. Mark Bloomston, Surgical Oncologist at the Lee Health Cancer Institute, during his presentation at last month’s Engage Estero Community & Member Meeting.

Dr. Bloomston emphasized that pancreatic cancer, while aggressive and often without early warning signs, is not without hope, thanks to major advancements in early detection, treatment, and surgical options.

✨ Highlights from his talk included:

The groundbreaking Pancreatic Cancer Center of Excellence at Lee Health

Promising therapies like mFOLFIRINOX, which can shrink tumors and make surgery possible

New technologies such as:

The Pancreas “Pap Smear” (LINFU) for early detection

Irreversible Electroporation and Histotripsy, which use energy to destroy cancer cells

📊 Pancreatic cancer ranks among the top causes of cancer death in the U.S., but Dr. Bloomston is working to change that through multidisciplinary care and cutting-edge research.

💜 Thank you to Engage Estero for hosting this important conversation and to Dr. Bloomston for bringing awareness and hope to Southwest Florida.
