Seniors can prepare for hurricanes by:

Making a plan
Know where to go if you need to evacuate, and how you will communicate. If you have special needs, understand them and plan for them.

Packing an emergency kit
Include a week's worth of non-perishable food, water, batteries, flashlights, a radio, first aid kit, and important documents. You should also pack items that meet your individual needs, such as mobility aids, hearing aids, eyeglasses, and medications.

Storing important documents
Keep copies of vital documents like birth and marriage certificates, Social Security cards, passports, wills, deeds, and financial records in a safe place.

Staying informed
Stay tuned to local TV and radio stations, and check websites like floridadisaster.org and redcross.org for information.

Having a water supply
Have five to seven days' worth of drinking water for each person and their pets. You can use inflatable bladders or save old containers to store water
Have all your medicine in a plastic bag or tote!
