The kiddos at Evolve are learning to engage in cooperative play with peers through structured games and social activities! They are developing skills such as turn-taking, sharing, following game rules, and responding to social cues! With guidance and modeling, the kids will began to initiate interactions, maintain engagement, and demonstrate appropriate social behaviors during play.

ABA therapy focused on teaching our nonverbal kiddo a way to communicate through a picture exchange system (PECS), so he had a way to communicate to others. Therapy is now working on teaching him how to talk by a process we call “shaping” his sounds into vocal words. We are so proud of our kiddo, with his effort and using ABA reinforcement he has made so much progress!

ABA therapy focuses on teaching social skills and reading social cues. An important part of socialization is teaching different emotions, along with what empathy is. This is instrumental in helping our kiddo’s interact with other peers & form friendships, while being able to socially function out in the community.

At Evolve, we work with diverse children, who have diverse special needs. For our nonverbal clients, we know we have to give them a voice. This is where we teach them how to use an augmented communication device to communicate their wants and needs. We use reinforcement interventions to make learning fun!

In ABA therapy, we work on "listening with our whole body." This means we teach our kiddo's how to show they are paying attention not just with their ears, but also with their eyes (looking at the speaker), & their body (sitting still and facing the speaker). By learning these non-verbal cues, our kiddo's can better understand instructions and participate more effectively in activities & social conversations. This skill helps build focus & shows respect to others.
