Rashawn and Lori Brewster understand that relationships can be challenging and that couples often find themselves in the midst of a busy life and struggling with connecting in ways that invite joy and satisfaction. Having had generational and personal experiences with failed relationships, they began a 10 year journey of exploring the challenges that couples face and learning about effective principles and tools that could lead to a more fulfilling relationship. This journey of self-discovery ignited a passion for helping others to elevate their relationships utilizing a “couple to couple” approach. This joint approach provides the opportunity for two family therapists to listen to and support couples with their relationship goals providing a male and female perspective. They believe that when a couple is operating as a cohesive unit, it can have a positive impact on overall health and wellness in many aspects of life including family, social relationships, career, parenting, and so on. Furthermore, they both work with clients individually in areas such as grief, anxiety, self-expression and self-esteem, guilt and shame, life transitions, relationship concerns, decision making, and stress management. Lori and Rashawn are licensed marriage and family therapists and they have over 20 years combined experience working with children, youth and families in a variety of ways. Lori was born and raised in South Florida and also lived several years in Tennessee. Rashawn was born in East Tennessee and has been part of the South Florida community since 2008. They enjoy doing outdoor activities including kayaking and biking, are actively involved in their church, and love spending time with family, friends, and their adorable puppy.

Tip #3 Dating Helps You CHOOSE Each Other Again & Again

Kids. Careers. Aging parents. Puppy antics. Laundry mountains (anyone else have a dedicated chair?????). Life is a lot.

But here’s the truth: marriage isn’t maintained on autopilot. You have to actively choose each other over and over again.

While kids may thrive in routine, eroticism and desire may not. It tends to thrive in novelty, anticipation, mystery, and surprise—you know, the things dating brings. Especially when trying something new!

Dating says: "I still want YOU".

Even if your sugar saw you flossing this morning.

Let's set the scene: You're married. You might have monogrammed towels, a shared Netflix account, and a joint calendar filled with dentist appointments and soccer practice pickups. But, what about the ? Maybe it shows up occasionally- like for your or . But, what about all the days in between? ❤️

This past weekend, we did dating in overdrive and packed in 4 dates between Friday and Sunday and it was soooooo needed! It inspired us to share 7 dating tips over the next 7 days bc shouldn't stop once you've said "I do".

In fact, "I do" is an opportunity to keep growing and having fun with the coolest person you know.

Tip 1
Dating is the antidote to feeling like you are living with a roommate instead of the vibrant, sexy, interesting person that you agreed to marry!

We often hear from couples who feel like they are glorified cohabitants. And ya know what they don't do very often? You guessed it. We don't even need to say it!

Dating one another helps you to fight feeling like roommates. Dating banishes monotony. Dating creates space to remind you that you are lovers- it creates space for curiosity, flirtation and emotional intimacy. It allows for playfulness. It helps you bring back the energy of those first few moments together when you couldn't wait to ask the next question.

Wanna stop feeling like roommates? Cool! Then start being intentional and make a plan for your next date!

What mark will your love story leave?

We saw this picture of a couple the other day while out enjoying some of our favs (sign us up for the magical combo of music, art, and a sunset any day).

We immediately wanted to know more... Who is this couple? What's their story? What contributed to their names being on this gorgeous building? In researching a bit, we learned that Berne and Sidney were a seemingly happy and in love couple who came from humble beginnings and left their memorable stamp on a community that emphasized their dedication to art. A beloved couple who left their heartfelt mark and whose legacy of beauty and generosity is still felt, years after their death.

It reminds us that each love story is a legacy in the making. Each couple we speak to has a story about another couple that informed their narrative of love- either the things to do or NOT to do.

From the generational impact on children to the influence of the marriage mindset of all those that come in contact with you, your love story speaks volumes.

Do you like the story? Do you value the legacy your love story is leaving? Will those exposed to your love story retell it with messages of compassion, generosity, kindness, laughter, affection, grace, etc.

Each day is a new day to remake, rewrite, and further develop your love story.

We're here to help if you're stuck.

May we all leave a legacy of love that brings smiles and not tears.

14 years ago:
Him: Do you know what today is?

Me feeling a bit frantic: Oh no! What did I forget? What is today?

He proceeded to say it's 5.25 and shared his desire to love me like Christ loves the church (Ephesians 5:25). ❤️

Then he asked me to be his wife! 💍

My response: YES, PLEASE!
(we still laugh at the please)

To add seasoning to all of that, there was also a sunrise breakfast, a love tree (legend says if you kiss under it, your love lasts forever), a horse-drawn carriage ride, and a princess glass slipper. He went all out to show me he cherished me.

That wasn't the beginning or ending of our story. But, it definitely was a sweet spot.

Today, in honor of our engagement anniversary, we encourage you all to go a bit OUT OF YOUR WAY to let your person know how SPECIAL they are to you. Let them know you CHERISH them! If being a bit EXTRA (like the carriage ride and princess slipper) isn't part of your skill set, that's ok. There's a ton of resources and ideas online! You got this!

Partners want to know that they are CHERISHED! It's an ESSENTIAL part of the formula for HAPPY RELATIONSHIPS.

For those interested, check out the verse that inspired the proposal. I love the message version!

‭Ephesians 5:25 NIV‬
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.

‭Ephesians 5:25-28 MSG‬ version!!
Husbands, GO ALL OUT in your LOVE for your WIVES, exactly as Christ did for the church—a love marked by giving, not getting. Christ’s love makes the church whole. His words evoke her beauty. EVERYTHING he does and says is DESIGNED to bring the BEST out of her, dressing her in dazzling white silk, radiant with holiness. And that is how husbands ought to love their wives. They’re really doing themselves a favor—since they’re already “one” in marriage. ❤️

About last weekend... When one of your very special friends has a special bday, you grab the graffiti drip and do the Alligator Alley shuffle to head east to celebrate her style. Happy Bday ! We love you!

Speaking of celebrating someone special... (y'all know we gotta bring it back to doing what we do best- ! ❤️)...

How are you doing so far this year with celebrating your special person? If you don't have an answer, you're behind.

Remember, every day is another opportunity to be intentional about loving well!

It doesn't always have to be a party- sometimes it's simply a kind word, a spontaneous hug, a special night planned, or a chore completed.

Love on the people you love!
