Upper Cervical Health Centers of Fort Myers Upper Cervical Health Centers- Fort Myers is now accepting New Patients! Upper Cervical Chiropractic

As experts on the upper cervical spine, our doctors focus on the intimate relationship between the top two bones in the neck, called the upper cervical spine, and, more importantly, a vital portion of the nervous system called the brain stem. This relationship is absolutely essential to the body’s ability to restore and preserve health. In order to grasp the upper cervical concept, you must first understand how the body is created and, more importantly, how it is designed to function normally and remain healthy.

Do you constantly feel the urge to crack your neck?

Maybe it feels tight, stiff, or “off.” You crack it — and it feels better… for a few minutes.
Most people try:
✔️ Stretching
✔️ Massage
✔️ Foam rolling
✔️ Self-cracking multiple times a day
But the tightness keeps coming back.

Here’s what’s often misunderstood:
The urge to crack your neck usually isn’t about stiffness. It’s about instability.

When the upper cervical spine becomes misaligned — often after old injuries like falls, sports impacts, or car accidents — it can create neurological irritation that alters muscle tone and posture.

Your body senses imbalance and tries to compensate. Cracking temporarily releases pressure — but it doesn’t restore proper alignment.

✨ Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care focuses on gently correcting the top two vertebrae so stability returns and the constant urge to crack naturally fades.

Your inner ear detects motion but your brainstem integrates balance.

When the upper neck is misaligned, it can create irritation in this critical control center — preventing full recovery even after the infection is gone.

Did your vertigo start after being sick?

Vestibular neuritis is commonly diagnosed after a viral illness. It can cause intense spinning, nausea, imbalance, and difficulty walking.

Many people try:
✔️ Steroids
✔️ Antivert or other medications
✔️ Vestibular therapy
✔️ Rest and hydration
And while the infection may clear… the dizziness doesn’t always fully resolve.

Here’s what’s often missed:
Balance isn’t controlled by the inner ear alone.
It’s integrated at the brainstem — located at the top of your neck.

When the upper cervical spine becomes misaligned — often after a fall, accident, or even years-old trauma — it can create ongoing neurological irritation in this region. That irritation can interfere with how your brain processes balance signals, delaying full recovery.
✨ Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care focuses on gently correcting misalignment at the top of the neck to support proper neurological communication and balance stabilization.

Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) affects connective tissue, often leading to ligament laxity and instability in the upper cervical spine where the skull meets the neck. When the atlas and axis lose proper stability, it can place stress on the brainstem and nervous system, contributing to symptoms like headaches, dizziness, brain fog, neck pain, and autonomic dysfunction.

Balance isn’t just about the inner ear. It’s regulated by the brainstem—located at the top of the neck.

When upper cervical misalignment causes irritation in this region, symptoms may persist long after travel ends.
✨ Correct the cause—not just the symptom.

Do you feel like you're swaying, rocking, or bobbing—even though you're standing completely still?

Mal de Débarquement Syndrome (MdDS) often begins after a cruise, flight, or long travel. But for some people, the motion never stops.
Many patients try:
✔️ ENT visits
✔️ Vestibular therapy
✔️ Anxiety medication
✔️ “Waiting it out”
Yet their tests come back normal—and the rocking continues.

Here’s what’s often overlooked:
Balance is processed at the brainstem, located right next to the top two bones in your neck.
When the upper neck becomes misaligned—often after trauma—it can create ongoing neurological irritation that prevents the brain from recalibrating.
✨ Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care focuses on correcting this misalignment gently and precisely, helping restore proper balance signaling.

Do you struggle with chronic swallowing issues or have you been diagnosed with dysphagia?

If food—especially bread or bulky items—feels like it gets stuck, and you’ve tried reflux meds, therapy, or even a liquid diet with no answers, there may be more to the story.

Swallowing relies on a neurological process called peristalsis, controlled by the brainstem at the base of the skull.

When the upper neck is misaligned—often after trauma—it can interfere with this process and contribute to dysphagia.

✨ Upper Cervical Care evaluates this area to support proper function and healing.

Why In The World Should You Listen To Me?

I spent 10 years trying to find an answer for my health issues. What I ended up with was more issue and less answers. By the time I was 30 I felt hopeless and like my productive years were coming to an end. My poor health was taking over. It was around this time a man told me that a small bone at the top of my neck might be the reason my body was failing me. When he explained how it worked it made sense. I decided to give it a shot and became an upper cervical patient. In the next few months what happened was incredible. My body began to work better every day rather than worse. I had more energy, less pain and better function. Soon, I felt like a new person and I knew I had to learn how to provide this care to others suffering just like me.

Is this the first time that you are hearing about upper cervical chiropractic care?

I want to help you understand more about this subspecialty of chiropractic so that you can make an informed decision about your healthcare. To start, you need the answer to the most basic question: What is upper cervical chiropractic care? In order to answer this question, we are going to break down the upper cervical process into its most basic components...
