NGPT is excited to announce and offer a new, peer and play based feeding group!
Food Exploration & Wellness Group is designed to help children build a positive relationship with food in a fun, supportive, and low-pressure environment. Led by NGPT's staff, this group focuses on helping children feel more comfortable exploring new foods while developing the skills needed for successful mealtimes.
Through play-based activities and guided food exploration, children are encouraged to interact with foods in a variety of ways -touching, smelling, tasting, and preparing foods at their own pace. The group supports children who may experience picky eating, sensory sensitivities to food textures or smells, difficulty trying new foods, or challenges with oral-motor and self-feeding skills.
Sessions incorporate sensory play, food preparation, and social interaction with peers to promote confidence and curiosity around food. With guidance from our therapist, group leaders use evidence-based feeding and sensory strategies to help children gradually expand their food repertoire and develop healthy eating habits.
This group may help children who:
* Have limited food preferences or picky eating habits
* Avoid certain textures, smells, or appearances of food
* Feel anxious or overwhelmed at mealtimes
* Need support with self-feeding skills
* Benefit from peer modeling and positive food experiences
NGPT's goal is to make food exploration enjoyable while supporting each child's individual sensory and developmental needs. Caregivers may also receive guidance and strategies to help support positive mealtime experiences at home.
