Behind every great team is someone making sure they can stay in the game💪
As the Northeast Alabama Community College Lady Mustangs Softball Team dominates the season at 35-1 and ranked # 1 in the nation, we’re shining a spotlight on someone who plays a critical role in that success, Dekalb Orthopedics and Sports Medicine's Athletic Trainer Caine Buff 👏
Athletic trainers are often the unsung heroes of athletics. Caine works tirelessly to help prevent injuries before they happen and catch issues early so athletes can stay healthy and competitive. From applying protective bracing and wraps to guiding athletes through treatment and rehabilitation, his impact is felt every single day.
But his role goes far beyond the sidelines. Caine serves as a first responder during emergencies, whether it’s fractures, sprains, or serious medical situations like sudden cardiac arrest. His quick action and expertise can make all the difference.
He also develops therapeutic programs to safely return athletes to play and acts as a vital link between orthopedic providers and coaches, ensuring every athlete’s health, safety, and limitations are clearly understood.
NACC Lady Mustang Coach Joe Guthrie stated how fortunate his team is to "have Caine right here in our backyard." Coach Guthrie said, "Caine has built great rapport with the players. He makes professional, non-emotional decisions and ensures that players get to the doctor when they need to. We also have a strong relationship with Dr Boatwright, and the collaboration between him, Caine, and our staff, has been excellent, and that's largely due to Caine."
Championship teams aren’t built on talent alone, they’re built on care, preparation, and support.
Thank you, Caine Buff, for helping keep these athletes strong, safe, and ready to compete! 🏆🥎
