The Resiliency to Succeed Everyone
can expect adversity to show up at any given time. Trouble is part of a Christian lifestyle, and how we respond to it determines our success or failure in handling it. Most people would cave in and quit, but we’re not most people. God gives us different ways to stay resilient in the midst of a situation. One way to maintain our flexibility is to stay rooted in prayer and Bible study. We live in a spiritually dark world; without God’s guidance, we’d be lost. His Word is a lamp to guide our feet and a light for our path. Another way is to surround ourselves with supportive people. Toxic people who tear us down don’t do us any good; we need people who will encourage and build us up. Two people are better off than one because they can help each other succeed. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help, but the one who falls alone is in real trouble. A third way is to be grateful. Thankfulness gives us a new attitude and helps us bounce back. Paul urged the Thessalonians to always be joyful, to never stop praying, and to be thankful in all circumstances. We can also surrender control to God. Trying to control every aspect of our lives produces stress and anxiety; a relationship with Him keeps us resilient. We’re to trust in the Lord with all our hearts and not to lean on our own understanding. Seeking His will in everything we do allows Him to show us which path to take. We’re weak and limited in ourselves; by comparison, we can do all things through Christ, who strengthens us. He gives us the resilience we need. We adapt to situations only with God’s help.
