A little rescue tale to start your day.

Chief Deputy John Budensiek does his best to try to calm this baby raccoon as he waits for his transportation to the wildlife refuge. The raccoon was trapped in an attic and rescued by MCSO Captain Bill Dowdy this morning. We nicknamed the little guy “Meeko”.

Baby raccoons typically cover their eyes when they are scared. He would lift a hand and peek out occasionally. Nothing to be worried about here though. Meeko is safe and headed to a place where he can grow strong and confident enough to be on his own.
