At Coastal Primary Care, we prioritize person-focused care with more one-on-one time for patients compared to large clinic system. We do not have to meet "quotas." Our key goal is to build strong and consistent relationships, improving patients' health outcomes through physician-patient engagement, including patient self-care and self-efficacy education. Spending time with you, fostering deeper connection, and understanding your values and needs allow us to provide more accurate diagnoses and create tailored treatment plans.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) recommends that all women who are 40 or older with an average risk of breast cancer should have an annual screening mammogram. Women at increased risk for breast cancer (e.g., with a strong family history) may need to start screening earlier, get additional tests, or be screened more often.

The well-being of the digestive system (a healthy gut) is essential for overall health and well-being! Probiotic foods contain different types of healthy beneficial microorganisms. They work by increasing the number of good bacteria while also crowding out or inhibiting the growth of harmful ones. Probiotics help maintain healthy gut bacteria by restoring a balanced gut microbiome.
Please keep in mind:
- While many fermented foods contain probiotics, certain processes like pasteurization can remove the healthy bacteria that makes something probiotic.
- Vegetables pickled in a vinegar solution don’t contain probiotics. Choose vegetables that have been fermented with salt and lactic acid bacteria.
Stay healthy!

Coastal Primary Care is a private and patient-focused quality care medical practice. We believe that Care Should Be Personal. We’re not beholden to some large clinic system - rushing to meet "quotas." We do not limit appointments to 15 minutes, and this allows us to practice medicine more effectively and build stronger relationships with patients. Spending more time with you, we perform more thorough assessments that are crucial for the early detection of significant diseases and for more effective treatment.

H. pylori is a contagious type of bacteria that can be transmitted from person to person, often during childhood, and may spread through saliva or contaminated food or water. Children whose parents are infected with Helicobacter pylori are more likely to have ulcers especially as well. H. pylori infection can lead to gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining) and peptic ulcers (sores in the stomach or small intestine). While peptic ulcers themselves are not cancerous, they can increase the risk of developing stomach cancer, especially if they are caused by Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) bacteria and left untreated. Specifically, gastric (stomach) ulcers, unlike duodenal ulcers ( the first part of the small intestine), have been more strongly linked to stomach cancer development. Helicobacter pylori

You should see a doctor for a stomach ulcer if you experience severe or persistent common symptoms:
- pain or discomfort in the upper part of your abdomen, anywhere between your belly button and breastbone
- feeling full too soon while eating a meal
- feeling uncomfortably full after eating a meal
- nausea and vomiting
- bloating
- belching
- black or tarry stools
- unexplained weight loss
- difficulty swallowing

Prevention:
- Practicing good handwashing, especially after using the restroom and before eating, can help prevent the spread of H. pylori.
- Ensuring food is properly cooked and water is clean and safe to drink can also reduce the risk of infection.
- Avoid sharing utensils or food with individuals who may be infected

Stay safe and healthy, We care about you! 💕
