Yesterday, the Pittsburg Fire Department stopped by to present a check after several of the firefighters took time out of their Saturday earlier this month to raise money to support our cancer center. On Homecoming, several members did a traditional "boot block," standing on streetcorners asking passersby for what they could spare.

We're always deeply grateful for community members who are passionate about helping us in our mission of caring for all who need it. PFD, thank you so much! 🚒❤️

This October, we celebrate National Physical Therapy Month and World Spine Day — a perfect time to highlight the life-changing role of acute rehabilitation.

Acute rehab is critical for spinal and neurological patients in particular because it helps them achieve greater gains in mobility and self-care, reduce complications like pressure injuries and respiratory decline and improve their long-term quality of life and community reintegration.

At Mercy Hospital Pittsburg, our multidisciplinary rehab team helps patients regain independence, prevent complications and achieve safer outcomes after spinal cord injuries, strokes or other neurological conditions.

A cancer diagnosis or even scare is always unnerving for patients, their families and loved ones, but the cancer center is full of caregivers who want nothing more than to walk with them every step of the way. From screenings to hopefully catch it early to chemotherapy and radiation, we're here for whatever our patients and community need. ❤️

The weather might still feel like summertime, but the annual respiratory virus season is right around the corner. Our pediatrics team has vaccines available for both the flu and RSV.
