Warning long post! MY WHY! No matter what life deals u, just live.
For those who know me, it may be evident why I’m here! For over three decades, I’ve been a physical therapist assistant, cherishing each moment of my life. My mission was to bring smiles, make a difference, and promote progress. Every day, I strived to leave a positive impact on someone’s life.
Several years ago, a significant change occurred in my life. My “why” became deeply personal. Through joy, achievements, and adventures, my personal life transformed my work life. I began to question how I could help more than one person at a time.
In Juneau, Alaska, in September 2023, I married my “why.” Over the years, we’ve overcome challenges, learned new things, embraced new life, and discovered our shared purpose. Together, we’ve found the ability to care for multiple individuals simultaneously.
In January of this year, I was presented with an opportunity to work for Access Home Health as an Account Executive. This chance allowed me to manage multiple accounts, build relationships, and be part of a team dedicated to serving the entire community. I feel a deep sense of purpose and fulfillment in treating everyone as if they were my own.
In the fast-paced healthcare industry, we clinicians often lose sight of our purpose and “why” due to the pressures of meeting deadlines, insurance approvals, and guidelines. Today and every day, as I embark on this new career, I remind myself of the question: “What if this patient is mine? Is it my family? Perhaps even my husband? I challenge everyone to allow me to help them treat everyone as if they were their own.
