We always check baseline prostate levels prior to starting Testosterone..Current guidelines recommend prostate screening starting at age 45 but this was in a 40 year old man. Instead of starting him on testosterone we referred him to urology and it was, in fact, cancer. It was caught early and patient is now in remission and on testosterone.
