After a nearly one year process, the transition from Tricare East to Tricare West is moving to the next step for CNSA Neurology. Thanks to US Representative Steve Womack and his office for facilitating the outcome Womack For Congress. After many years of service to our military family through Tricare East, I know this delay was very difficult for our Tricare patients, but it seems the contracting and credentialling process is done. Hopefully we appear on the TriWest provider directory soon.

This treatment is already being used to treat acute stroke in many centers but the news is official approval from the FDA for use in stroke. New, sudden onset neurology symptoms (new sudden weakness, slurred speech, vision changes) might be acute stroke and requires immediate emergent attention at an emergency room. While we not currently practicing hospital neurology, so we are not providing this service, we encourage all patients with new, sudden onset neurologic symptoms to seek emergent care. 9-1-1 is very appropriate to help with this situation.

Tenecteplase is administered as a single, 5-second intravenous bolus, providing a faster and simpler option compared to the standard 60-minute infusion of alteplase.
