Seva Yoga Studios is dedicated to bringing yoga to everyone. We offer beginner to advanced classes, free "Seva" classes for those who need a therapeutic practice but may not be able to afford it or know where to begin, and donation-based "Service" classes designed to give back to the Arkansas River Valley community. I believe travel reveals possibility. I host retreats because our community resides in a small town tucked away from many dangers, and many wonders. Taking a trip and stepping into the unknown is easier with friends who remind you to pause and breathe.

But I don't host retreats in spaces trying to mimic the comforts of the United States. If we retreat to a volcanic island expect to climb. If we retreat to a secluded village expect a lesson in local culture. If we retreat to a 400 year old house expect imperfection, and character, and history. And perhaps a haunting or two.

Are you really traveling if everywhere you go looks like home? Are you really practicing yoga if comfort is on demand? Madeira is a far, far cry from roughing it. She has luxury to balance her edge. She is both exotic and familiar, commanding and kind. She offers 4 seasons in a day with a side of killer wine and surprisingly killer pizza. She is not easy. She expects effort. She wants you to earn her bounty. She really is the woman we either aspire to be, or be with. A secret island who knows her worth, Madeira only shares her secrets with those willing to meet her on her terms.

Trust her and she reveals a world of possibility.

Life in the Land of the Midnight Sun - Winter Yoga Retreat

Yoga is alchemy. We move in ways to shine light on our shadows, to witness how it dances across our darkness. With each breath we remember our intention lights our way, but first we must inhale, then move. This retreat is a big one. This is the kind of retreat that scares me because it asks a lot of you. But behind that fear is the excitement of seeing the world's own alchemical process, to witness light dance across Earth's shadow, to remember this world welcomes us all. We only need to inhale, then move.

I hope you join us for a week in the Arctic Circle at a beautiful boutique hotel and resort in the heart of Lapland. Live in a land drenched in white and covered in light and shadow, enjoying several once in a lifetime excursions and sights. Begin your day with yoga and breakfast or stay cozy and sleep in. You may run with the huskies, feed the reindeer, chase the lights, and fish the ice. Take a day trip to Rovaniemi, Christmas Town, or ski the alpines and slopes. Spend the afternoon in a traditional Finnish sauna or visit the resort's wine cellar for a private tasting. Evenings offer an optional yoga class, drinks at the bar, and fine dining. January is a wonderful time to visit, with more daylight and fewer crowds than in December, and less cloud cover means more chances to see the lights. So grab your favorite people, pack your warmest layers, practice your heating pranayama, and let's go live the life we're not living.

"Then that's what the Northern Lights are. All the lives that we're not living." - Adi Alsaid

Retreats, for me, offer a life I thought only existed in dreams. If you know me, you know I choose locations based on inspiration, so when Lapland showed herself my heart was all in, but my mind had questions. Lapland's call was too strong, though, and my heart wouldn't let go. So I quietly researched, talked to a lot of locals, and hoped. And here we are.

Please join me for a week in the Arctic Circle at a beautiful resort offering aurora hunts, husky sled rides, nighttime snowmobiling, ice fishing, skiing, and more. Maybe you prefer to sit by the fire and watch the lights dance over the frozen lake with a glass of wine from the resort's private cellar. Or perhaps a day trip to Rovaniemi, planet Earth's official Christmas Town, to meet the real Santa and his reindeer ( they have reindeer at the resort, too.)

It's a once in a lifetime dream, my friends. Grab your loved ones and let's live the life we're not living in January, 2027.
