🍚 Have you heard of “Fried Rice Syndrome”?

It might sound unusual, but it’s a real type of food poisoning caused by bacteria, and it often happens when rice or other starchy foods are left out at room temperature too long.

The bacteria specially thrives on starchy foods, such as rice, pasta, potatoes, and pastries, although it can contaminate a range of foods, including cooked meats and vegetables, milk products, puddings, and soups.

⚠️ Symptoms can include:
Nausea & vomiting
Diarrhea
Fever & stomach cramps

Most people recover within a day or two, but prevention is key!

✅ Food Safety Tips to Protect Your Family:

Refrigerate leftovers within 2 hours 🕑

Reheat food to at least 165°F 🔥

Only reheat food once

When in doubt, throw it out 🚫

Myth: You’ll know if food is bad by the way it smells or tastes.

Fact: Many harmful bacteria that cause food poisoning don’t change the way food looks, smells, or tastes.

That means even food that seems “fine” could make you seriously sick. 🤒

Bacteria like Salmonella, E. coli, and Listeria are invisible to the eye, but they can still grow on food that hasn’t been handled or stored properly. 🧫

✅ Follow these food safety tips:

🔹 Wash your hands and cooking surfaces
🔹 Cook to the right temperatures
🔹 Refrigerate leftovers quickly
🔹 Don’t rely on the “sniff test” alone!

These foods are typically:
