is proud to recognize Piper Morgan, RN, as our February Great Catch Award recipient for her exceptional care in the NICU. Piper’s quick thinking and commitment to safety helped ensure one of our smallest patients received the right care at the right time. Her actions reflect Mercy’s mission and the critical role NICU caregivers play in protecting our most vulnerable patients.

Congratulations, Piper, and thank you for your compassionate, attentive care! 💙

For Dr. Michael Winterton, medicine has always been about people and being there for them when they need answers most. That passion to help others led him to a career in pulmonology, where early diagnosis and timely care can change lives. At , pulmonologists are now using robotic bronchoscopy, a groundbreaking, minimally invasive procedure that allows physicians to reach hard‑to‑access areas of the lung and diagnose lung cancer earlier than ever before.

For Dr. Winterton, it’s another way to combine innovative medicine with his commitment to helping patients live healthier lives. (Read more about him at the link in comments.)

"Jesus knew that his hour had come to pass from this world to the Father. He loved his own in the world and he loved them to the end." - John 13:1

In Holy Week we pray with Jesus in his enduring love as well as those who accompanied him.

Take a moment and think about what 'loving to the end' looks like in your life? It could be helping a friend through a tough time, being there for your child when they graduate or seeing a patient on their last day of treatment.

“Listen deeply, escalate early and make it easy to do the right thing” are three lessons from the bedside that continue to guide Mercy’s senior vice president and chief nurse executive, Stephanie Clements, whose recent Health Progress article showcases how Mercy is transforming the nursing experience.

In the article, she said in her earliest days as a nurse she learned care was more than clinical expertise — it’s presence, compassion and empathy. She shared personal experiences that help guide her leadership and caregiving to this day.

“Over time, I realized that providing accompaniment is as critical as having technical skills," she said. "When we explain, reassure and invite questions, we transform fear into trust. The discipline of technical excellence paired with human presence continues to shape how I lead teams and design care models.”

The article dives into our focus on nursing in a variety of areas, including recruitment, work-life balance, technology and listening. She said if she could give her younger self one piece of advice, it would be to seek mentors and embrace lifelong learning.

It's ! Kudos to Krystina Israel with Mercy Fort Smith, who recently enjoyed visiting the Fort Smith Senior Activity Center alongside the Senior Care Alliance to connect with older adults in our community and share resources focused on healthy aging. During the visit, Krystina spoke about how clinics in Fort Smith make it easier to access care close to home, offering extended hours and walk‑in options for everyday health needs.

Wellderly Week focuses on the physical, mental, emotional and social well‑being of older adults. We’re grateful for opportunities to listen, connect and help support the well‑being and independence of the seniors we’re honored to serve! 💜 💙
