🍂✨ Hey parents! Looking for fun, sensory-rich ways to celebrate October with your kids? KTL Therapy’s got you covered with some fall-inspired activities that engage all the senses — without overwhelming them.
🌈 Highlights from our October Sensory Playbook
Visual: Lie on the ground and look up at tree branches — talk about the colors you see (or pick a few leaves if lots of visual input is too much).
Auditory: Play “Musical Monsters” (cue up “Monster Mash” or a Halloween tune) — dance when the music plays, freeze when it stops!
Gustatory: Use Halloween treats as a chance to explore flavors — sweet vs. sour vs. salty — with your child.
Vestibular: Try “mummy wraps” (wrapping with toilet paper/blankets) and spin, or go on themed movement walks: stomp like a monster, float like a ghost, wobble like a turkey.
Proprioception (body awareness): Add “heavy work” to trick-or-treating — carry the candy bag part of the way, or pick a costume that gives deep pressure input (heavier, layered, or snug).
Tactile: Scoop pumpkin guts when carving, remove seeds, or build a sensory bin with corn kernels, acorns, fake leaves, hidden treasures — chat about texture: “crunchy,” “smooth,” “squishy.”
These ideas from KTL Therapy are meant to support your child’s sensory systems while keeping it fun and family-friendly.
