Before pencils, there’s play. ✏️✨
Before little hands are ready to hold a pencil, they need to explore, squeeze, scoop, climb, and create!

Here are just a few important pre-writing activities:
• tearing paper
• squeezing play dough
• scooping and pouring sand
• crawling on bumpy ground
• digging in the dirt
• popping bubbles
• stirring batter
• chalk art
• finger painting

These sensory and motor experiences build strength, coordination, and confidence—all essential for writing later on! 💛

💚 At Treehouse, we believe in the power of connection — and science backs it up.

✨ Whether you’re holding a baby through big feelings or sitting with your toddler (or even teen!) during a tough moment, each moment of comfort and co-regulation teaches the brain how to self-regulate over time.

This isn’t just for little ones — it’s for all ages. Repeated support builds lifelong emotional resilience. 💪🌱

Let’s raise regulated kids by being their calm in the storm. 🌈

🐄🐥✨Scoop, pour, and play! ✨🐰🦆

Speech therapy gets extra fun with this hands-on sensory bin full of animals and black beans! Activities like this help little ones work on:

🗣️ Action words (scoop, pour, dig, shake, hide, find!)
📍 Prepositions (in, on, out, under)
🐷 Animal sounds & vocabulary
🧠 Understanding & using new words
🧩 Following directions
🤝 Taking turns and cooperative play

These kinds of play-based sessions help build strong language foundations while keeping kiddos engaged and excited to learn! 💬🎉

Feeling crabby? Try the Treehouse “Back to Basics” Reset! 🌿

Sometimes the simplest tools are the most powerful—especially when it comes to calming overwhelmed bodies and busy minds. At Treehouse, we LOVE these go-to strategies for ALL ages—from fussy babies to cranky toddlers to overstimulated teens (and yes, even tired grown-ups 😉):

Ever notice how water magically calms a fussy baby? Or how a walk outside seems to shift your toddler’s mood? These aren’t just parenting hacks—they’re powerful nervous system resets.

💧 Add Water – A bath, a sip of something cool, or water play can soothe the senses and regulate the nervous system.
🌤️ Step Outside – Fresh air and sunlight are nature’s way of helping us reset. Even a few minutes can shift the mood.
🌀 Get Moving – Bounce, rock, stretch, dance… movement helps reorganize the body and brain.

These “back to basics” strategies are simple, sensory, and always available. Try one (or all three!) and notice the shift. 💛

overwhelming for some.

👣 Want to take it a step further? Try walking barefoot to soak in the grounding benefits of nature.

✨Before words come… connection begins! ✨
Pre-verbal skills lay the foundation for communication and language development. These early milestones—like using gestures, making eye contact, and taking turns—help your little one learn how to connect and communicate with the world around them. 💬👶

At TreeHouse Therapies, we support families in nurturing these essential building blocks to help every child grow, connect, and thrive. 🌿💛

Is your baby ready for solids?
Starting solid foods is an exciting milestone—but it’s not just about age. Look for these signs of readiness before that first bite:

• Sits up with little or no support
• Has good head and neck control
• Shows interest in what you’re eating
• Brings hands or toys to mouth
• Opens mouth when food approaches
• Can close lips around a spoon and swallow (not push food right back out)

Every baby develops at their own pace—some are ready around 5-6 months, and others may need more time. If you’re unsure or noticing feeding challenges, we are here to help guide you through every step of your feeding journey.

Let’s make mealtimes joyful, not stressful!

🌊 Seashell Painting at the Beach 🎨🐚
This weeks nature inspired activity is a calming, creative way to soak up the sunshine and nature’s beauty!

Paint collected seashells with kids washable watercolor paints right on the sand. Kids love the soft colors, cool textures, and simple joy of making art in the sea breeze.

👣 Bonus grounding benefit: Walking barefoot on the beach while searching for shells provides powerful sensory input that calms the nervous system, regulates emotions, and promotes connection with nature.

Tips for Success in Florida Heat ☀️
🕶️ Go early morning or late afternoon
☂️ Set up in shade or use a beach tent

🍼 👶What is Torticollis? And Why Does It Matter?

Torticollis is a condition where a baby’s neck muscles are tight or imbalanced, causing them to tilt their head to one side and have trouble turning it the other way. This can make things like feeding, sleeping, or tummy time more difficult—and may even lead to a flat spot on their head if not addressed early.

You might notice:
🔹 Your baby always looking one direction
🔹 A flat spot on the back or side of the head
🔹 Trouble turning their head during tummy time
🔹 Preference for nursing or bottle feeding on one side only

👶 Left untreated, torticollis can affect head shape, vision development, and even motor milestones like rolling, crawling, and sitting.

💪 The good news? With early pediatric physical therapy, babies with torticollis often make great progress! At Treehouse Therapies, our PT team gently supports your baby’s muscle development, improves head and neck mobility, and helps prevent delays in motor milestones. Early support makes a big difference!

💬 If you’re noticing any of these signs, we’re here to help. Reach out anytime with questions or to schedule an evaluation!
