Congresswoman Andrea Salinas recently sent a letter signed by 25 of her colleagues to the U.S. Department of Education citing the importance of mental health professionals to combat the country's mental health crisis and asking for the Department of Education to reclassify Counseling as a professional degree.

NBCC, along with several Counseling and mental health organizations, is hosting a congressional briefing tomorrow, Jan. 15, to advocate for the mental health workforce and ask additional legislators to help maintain the professional degree status for Mental Health Counselors, Marriage and Family Therapists, and Social Workers. NBCC will keep Counselors updated on additional advocacy steps and how you can submit written comments to the U.S. Department of Education once the comment period opens.
