On February 12, 2025, CAPT Rex Boonyobhas, Commanding Officer of Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane Division and CDR Luis “Homie” Martinez, Commanding Officer of Naval Support Activity Crane, presented Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medals to United States Coast Guard members CWO3 Michael Whiteaker and GM3 Max Lopez for performing heroic lifesaving CPR on 10 February 2025 for a Team Crane member suffering cardiac arrest. In addition to CWO3 Whiteaker and GM3 Lopez, Denise Ball, Joshua Ledune, and Mariah Roop were presented Civilian Achievement Medals for their crucial actions during the medical emergency which included the performance of successful CPR, application of the AED, and call to 911.

These five heroes swiftly took control of the situation and continued to perform life-saving measures until NSA Crane Fire and Emergency personnel arrived to transport the individual to the hospital for further treatment. Thanks to the actions of all involved, our beloved teammate is on their way to a successful recovery!
