Alive with Jo Yoga Instruction, Meditation, Health & wellness Please pm for private consultation Open for private, small group: packages available.

I have practiced yoga for over 10 years and while raising my kids I decided to do my teacher training to deepen my study/practice of yoga. At the end I found people asking me to teach them so it just naturally progressed into private instruction when people need it! I am a certified yoga instructor with a passion for helping people find balance in health and wellness. Through breath, meditation, poses we can get you back on the path to wellness. If you have any questions please message me.

I wrote this a while ago but its still so freaking relevant - especially for me

There are days when you just feel like snapping, breaking, or losing it. Those days I think it's ok to just let it out. To let it go - cry if you need, yell if you need, scream "f**k it" if you need. F**k is a great word to use when your having a rough day. Trust me .. it just makes things feel better. (Side note: not around children or you might get arrested).

There are days like today when I feel so tired and so spent and my mind instantly wants to put myself down for not "achieving" whatever mundane thing it is that "needs" to be achieved.

Let it go!.. But also let it be, let it just be in your body, in your mind. Its ok. You can feel weak, spent, tired, broken... accepting it and letting yourself have a "moment" can make the world seem like a much easier place.

My prescription to you: Let it go, yell f**k it a few times, scream and cry (on your own as others will think you really have lost it and you might end up locked up) but we won't, your heart won't, your soul won't. Let your mind breathe and then start a new tomorrow. (A glass of wine helps too!) Today is just today.. and tomorrow is a brand new day.

PS: you are perfect, you are beautiful and you are amazing. Smile because I think that of you and I know I am not the only one who does!

I just love love love this!

Trees grow up through their branches and down through their roots into the earth. They also grow wider with each passing year. As they do, they shed the bark that served to protect them but now is no longer big enough to contain them. In the same way, we create boundaries and develop defenses to protect ourselves and then, at a certain point, we outgrow them. If we don't allow ourselves to shed our protective layer, we can't expand to our full potential. [more] http://bit.ly/2qszxxZ

A review I received today: From Kim B
Jolene is great in her instructional approaches to yoga and mindfulness. She is gives technical feedback regarding postures and helps readjust according to your individual body. I have had a few surgeries, which make me somewhat unaligned, so she has shown me modifications that work well for my joints, etc... She is also mindful of her words as she sets intentions for peace and harmony throughout the flow of your practice. I used her individual service at my home, outdoors, on the morning of my birthday and it was quite a treat. It set me up to be appreciative for the rest of the day. Thanks Jo!

One of my fav things to talk about in class is embracing yourself and honoring your body. This means taking a moment to actually practice gratitude for all that you are and have (eyes, nose, toes, lungs, limbs). It means letting go of negative self talk and replacing it with loving talk. This is so hard to do but when your sitting in class and your teacher is asking you to breath deep and let this talk sink into your mind, to let it float over your body and for you to embrace it for just one moment it allows you start the practice of self love. SO IMPORTANT -- you must love yourself first.

Today marks the fall equinox - the day is equal to the night. It's where fall begins and many changes occur. Be mindful of your body, mind and spirit today and honor this change in the seasons. "I gratefully acknowledge how darkness has become less of an enemy for me and more of a place of silent nurturance, where the slow, steady gestation needed for my soul's growth can occur. Not only is light a welcomed part of my life, but I am also developing a greater understanding of how much I need to befriend my inner darkness."

You may hear Namaste at the end of class and wonder what the heck it is and why the teacher/students are saying it. It is commonly done with the hand gesture of the hands together in prayer position either at the heart or the third eye and then bowing.

Nama means bow, as means I, and te means you. Therefore, namaste literally means “bow me you” or “I bow to you.”

Typically the teacher initiates Namaste as a symbol of gratitude and respect toward her students and her own teachers and in return invites the students to connect with their lineage, thereby allowing the truth to flow—the truth that we are all one when we live from the heart.
