Thank you to Garrett and for having me on as a guest on the Under Current Podcast! I enjoyed our conversation on several topics related to the rehabilitation and training of rotational athletes ⛳️ ⚾️ . The Neubie has been a game changer since incorporating it into my existing programs and I look forward to exploring further applications to make our outcomes even better.

Really nice progress from a new client in their initial assessment today. One of the main goals was to increase speed and distance. While there are many factors that can contribute to this, one of the primary ones we found was a significant limitation in right rotation of the spine and hip. As a right handed golfer this was contributing to a very restricted backswing and in turn limited ramp time to generate speed. Saw some nice gains in thoracic spine rotation already within the first session and think he should be in store for some major gains physically and towards his speed and distance goals.

Also like to highlight why I think should be a must have for golfers. While we did a few things in addition to Rotex, it was a significant portion of what we did during the first treatment and I think the results speak for themselves and something I see on a regular basis. It is the most efficient way I’ve found to address mobility and stability and does so in a very time efficient manner

Really good progress from Tom in his first session today. From his assessment I posted on last week he had a few physical limitations likely contributing to some of the swing characteristics he was working on with his swing coach such as flat shoulder plane, loss of posture and sway/slide. In his assessment he actually demonstrated good flexibility and range of motion in most joints including his spine and hips, but was lacking stability and control of this motion and also awareness of how to appropriately sequence and coordinate this in the swing. In this case he responded very well to a few simple exercises on which simultaneously addresses mobility and stability of these joints in a way similar to how they need to function in the golf swing. This exercise pictured was the last in the sequence to help create an understanding of how to load in the backswing from the ground up. Once he started to get an understanding of this, we finished with a backswing throw drill with the speedbomber to reinforce this pattern. Look forward to seeing his continued progress as he has some serious power potential and is just figuring out how to transfer this into the golf swing💣

Thank you to the Titleist Performance Institute for sharing this article. I wrote this about 4 years ago and the client that I wrote the article about forwarded this email to me and his immediate reaction was that we need to do a part 2 to highlight all of the further progress he has made since that point. Also fun to look back on what his program looked like then compared to now and all the new stuff that been incorporated since then. A lot of the systems and principles from the article are the same but the methods to accomplish these results has changed and been refined as I have learned more and also gotten access to cutting edge technology such as Rotex Motion, Proteus Motion, Flywheel training and the Neufit among others. Look forward to continue learning and evolving my services to help other golfers like Jeff move, feel and perform their best.

I’m very excited to announce that I will be co hosting an upcoming event with Dr. Joe LaCaze on November 16th focused on how golfers can make the most of the offseason and get their body more ready than it’s ever been for next golf season. This will be a great opportunity for golfers to learn from a world expert and also get an inside look at the variety of services offered at Touchet Performance Golf to help golfers to move feel and perform at their best. You might have more mobility than you think.

Is your swing reflective of your mobility levels? Can you adequately express your mobility in a golf swing? Many of the golfers I work with over the age of 50 identify a lack of mobility as an area they need to improve for their golf swing. However is the answer to this simply manual therapy or mobility drills. Unfortunately many times simply improving isolated mobility of a joint doesn’t automatically mean your body will integrate that into the swing. For example I have seen golfers make gains in hip mobility through exercise or manual therapy, yet when they swing a golf club there is no difference. Why is this? You need to learn how to use it in the context of the golf swing. Obviously working with a swing coach can be very helpful in this process. I have found Rotex Motion to also be very useful in bridging this gap as well. Rotex not only is a great tool for improving mobility and stability, it also allows you to work these while in the positions you need to access in the golf swing. Besides this there are also several potential drills to help ingrain some of these feels such as the shown in the video above by Dr. Joe LaCaze. This can be very helpful in the body learning the new pattern.

If you are interested in this concept you will not want to miss our upcoming Speed and Longevity workshop with Dr. Joe and Fast Eddie Fernandes who will be discussing key parts of the body such as this, how to use them, and exercises to train them for their specific motion within the swing.

Speed and Longevity Workshop September 28th and 29th presented by Eddie Fernandes and Dr. Joe LaCaze

There are many methods to improving club head speed. One is though improving swing mechanics and sequencing. Improving physical capabilities also plays an important role, but you need to be able to transfer this to the swing. and Dr. LaCaze of have identified several elements in the swing key to creating efficient speed in the golf swing.

For example, in this video Eddie is describing using the movement of the right foot to help trigger proper loading through the rest of the body in the backswing. Swipe to see Dr. Joe LaCaze explaining some of the key joints responsible for this. This is just one piece of how Eddie is able to produce over 150 mph club head speed and 220 ball speed at age 53. In the upcoming speed and longevity workshops they will be coaching participants on other elements such as this to maximize speed, power and efficiency while also reducing risk of injury and improving longevity. There are a couple of spots left. Link in bio to register. DM with any questions
