Introducing: The Mother’s Circle
A monthly event for new mothers hosted by The Collective.

We understand that early motherhood can feel both sacred and challenging. We honor that humans are relational by nature, and that many of us long for the village of support we were meant to have.

That’s why we’re opening The Mother's Circle: an intentional space for new mothers to come together and be supported. Whether you’re growing your baby, navigating newborn rhythms, or searching for your voice as a parent, this circle is for you.

What to Expect:
🌻Monthly topics and guest experts to nourish your mind and confidence

🌻Circle time for learning, reflection, and meaningful discussion

🌻Casual space to connect with other moms in the same season of life

🌻Doulas present to offer wisdom and care

Who it's for:
🤰Pregnant mothers - You're already a mother the moment you begin growing your baby! We know that your pregnancy and birthing experiences profoundly affect your postpartum experience, and we're here to support you through it all! Whether you're pregnant for the first time or fifth time, we welcome you.

🤱Mothers with nursing infants in arms - This circle is designed to be a nurturing space centered on the mother’s experience. While we respect the mother-baby dyad and welcome nursing infants in arms, we kindly ask that toddlers and mobile little ones enjoy time with a trusted caregiver during this monthly event.

Event dates and times to come! Follow us here on Facebook and Instagram to stay up to date! https://www.instagram.com/communitydoulacollective/

The Mother's Circle will be held at The Well: Your Family’s Chiropractor Northeast Indiana’s nervous system-focused perinatal and pediatric chiropractic office. The space is neutral and inviting with comfortable seating and a cozy home feel.

Happy Mother’s Day! Life as you once knew it changed when you became a mother. Most things for the better, some things a struggle. All at once, you may have had to confront your own past, navigate the present, and think about the future. You’d do it all again and again. You are the perfect mother for your child 💜

Congratulations to mom and dad on the birth of their first baby. Mom used all her strength to reach the end of her journey and hold her beautiful boy on her chest.

My goal as a doula is for families to know that their experience belongs to them and no one else. That they are in control of the decisions made. Me getting to be immersed in their story and walk alongside them is a privilege.

A rainy spring week ended with the birth of a sweet little girl, following a similar path as her big sister as her mom’s second successful VBAC! I’m so proud of her mom knowing what she needed and voicing her wishes with confidence.

This trend gave me a chance to write something that I think of as poetry. What would you tell your newly first time postpartum self from a motherhood point of view? At the time, I couldn’t see past the current moment, because the current moment took up all of my mind. Living in the present moment can sometimes be a good thing, but as those who suffer with perinatal mental health disorders know, it can easily feel very heavy. I hear you.

Baby girl chose a beautiful fall day as her birth day. Her mom knew exactly what she needed to help herself achieve the birth she wanted, including hearing her own mother’s calm, encouraging voice during the hardest part of labor. The words a woman hears from her own mother about birth make a huge difference.

Being invited into a client’s birth space for a second time is the biggest compliment for me as a doula and something I don’t take for granted.

On a record hot day, baby boy was born into a family full of love. Labor was the hardest thing mom has ever done, but even so, as she held her little dream she said “I’m so happy”. Labor and birth is funny like that. It takes a woman through a whirlwind of an experience and she comes out of the other side feeling joyful. Congratulations to his mom and dad!

During the peak night for the Perseid meteor shower, another baby boy was born via his mom’s second successful VBAC. As she said so herself, she did it… again!

I’ve heard babies called these things and more during women’s pregnancies (including my own) and their births. What are some more examples you’ve heard?

Listen to this - your baby is SMART. They know what they’re doing, they’re doing exactly what they should be, especially if your pregnancy and labor haven’t been altered by outside influence. Our babies react appropriately to being poked, literally, and figuratively by the use of things like ultrasounds, Pitocin or mom being told to lay on her back. And the one that gives me the biggest cringe - due dates. Your baby is not stubborn because you went past your estimated due date.

Those who say words like this might mean to come across as light-hearted. But what moms hear about their babies during pregnancy and birth can affect them for the rest of motherhood.

World Breastfeeding Week has rolled around again, and we still don’t have enough support for women. I’m still keeping in my back pocket my ultimate goal of becoming an IBCLC, to add to the list of resources for educated, adequate, and affordable support. I have some other things I need to complete before I’m able to fully focus on providing lactation counseling services.

Please join me in supporting women in these ways:
• Encouraging them to seek professional lactation support prenatally and throughout the duration of their breastfeeding journey.
• Remind them that they’re doing a great job
• If you see a woman breastfeeding in public, simply give her an encouraging smile, thumbs up, or a kind word
• If it’s a coworker of yours, support her pumping needs by covering her work if needed
• Support the right to breastfeed any where, any time, without the assumption the woman needs to cover up (unless her and baby are most comfortable doing so!)
• Be a proponent by responding to negative comments about breastfeeding or ill-informed/false statements
