BRRRRRR...it appears that winter has arrived. This week FIRE will be the elemental focus! 3rd Charka power center will get attention. Pranayama practices, twisting, and forward folding will get the body and mind ready for 61 point Yoga Nidra practice developed by Rod Stryker.

May we be inspired to perform our unique duty with vigor and love.

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."-Martin Luther King Jr.

β€œSet your life on fire, seek those who fan your flames. ”— Rumi

Increases radiance.

β€œDon’t dismiss the elements. Water soothes and heals. Air refreshes and revives. Earth grounds and holds. Fire is a burning reminder of our own will and creative power. Swallow their spells. There’s a certain sweet comfort in knowing that you belong to them all.”

Classes this week will include a Bhastrika Pranayama variation that works the nervous and circulatory systems. Build heat, clear your mind, and increase focus.

β€œA person must live in harmony with his or her inner self while recognizing a vital connection to the entire world. A quiet and virtuous mind can live contently no matter what their circumstances, because they do not spend their precious time engaged in worthless faultfinding. Like all despairing men, I need to cease expecting anything from life while expecting more from myself. I aspire to find beauty and joy in the humblest of human activities.”― Kilroy J. Oldste

Several variations of Pigeon Pose (Eka Pada Rajakapotasana) will be threaded through the yoga sequence this week..
Why?
Because Pigeon Pose:
– Opens hip joint
– Lengthens hip flexor
– Stretches thighs, gluteals and piriformis muscles
– Extends groin and psoas
– Helps with urinary disorder
– Improves posture, alignment, and overall suppleness
– Lessens sciatica, lower back pain and stiffness

It is a primal reaction to store stress, trauma, fear and anxiety in the hips.
Pigeon Pose opens the hips and releases negative feelings and undesirable energy stored in your system.

Thankful for every teacher and student that has crossed my path.
This week's class sequence is inspired by a conversation with students today.
My yoga community is family...it may not be a typical family tree, but there are deep roots, many branches, and continual growth. Vrksasana (Tree) pose will be included with expansive heart openers. We will move as one on the same breath and support one another!
Sending love to all for a Happy Thanksgiving!
