🎃 Happy Halloween from Shepherd’s House! 🎃
This amazing pumpkin was carved by one of our incredible Veterans who recently graduated from our program. Traveling across the country to find a safe, healing space, he dedicated himself to growth and transformation every day. This pumpkin is just one of the many ways he left his mark on our community. We’re so proud of him and all of our Veterans!

🌟 Motivation Monday 🌟
Today, we're sending a heartfelt thank you to Mattress Warehouse for their incredible generosity! Owner Francine Good, went above and beyond by providing two box trucks full of furniture to replace what a Vietnam Veteran in Marion, Indiana, lost in a house fire. Francine also graciously donated brand new dishes, pots and pans, silverware, kitchen utensils, cleaning products and linens. This act of kindness will help this Veteran rebuild their life with comfort. 🙏🇺🇸

For months, Shepherds House founder Lonnie Cox and Case Management Mental Health Counselor Morgan Conroy have been walking alongside this Veteran’s family, providing support through our case management program.

Since 2019, our case management program has helped veterans who were once homeless retain stable housing, access the benefits they deserve, and address physical and mental health needs. Our team is available 24/7 and stays in contact with clients to provide support, ensuring that veterans don’t face challenges alone.

: Did you know that Shepherds House wasn’t always a home for healing veterans? Our historic 174 year old building at 519 Tennessee Avenue has a fascinating past!

Back in 1924, it was the Fort Wayne Sanitarium, owned by Dr. Zeanith H. Statmets. This 29-room facility included treatment rooms, a lab pharmacy, consultation rooms, and even a theater-style lecture room! Dr. Stamets was a trailblazer, advocating for iridology and early cancer diagnosis through chemical and urinary analysis.

Plus, our very own Tom Tom has been helping us flip through old scrapbooks to uncover these amazing pieces of history! He’s our purr-sonal history assistant.

Service dogs provide emotional support, reduce anxiety, and help our veterans regain confidence as they work through recovery. These loyal companions are more than pets—they're a source of healing and comfort. We are so lucky to have special visits.

And of course, who can forget the power of a good cup of coffee? We are incredibly grateful to our amazing supporters for stepping up and donating coffee when we needed it most. Your generosity is truly a blessing!
