🌟 Monday, June 1st is Say Something Nice Day! 🌟

This special day is a reminder that even the smallest words of kindness can bring comfort, encouragement, and hope to someone who may need it most. 💙

At Dignity Memorial, caring for families is more than what we do — it’s who we are. We are honored to walk alongside families during some of life’s most difficult moments, offering compassion, guidance, and support every step of the way. From helping families celebrate a loved one’s life to providing comfort, resources, and a listening ear, we strive to treat every family as if they were our own.

The Allen County Leaders Luncheons continue to bring together professionals, innovators, and community leaders for meaningful conversations that impact the future of our workforce and our community.

This spring’s luncheon will focus on the powerful generational shift happening in today’s workplace. As experienced professionals transition into retirement and younger generations step into leadership roles, organizations are learning how to navigate evolving expectations, communication styles, and workplace values.

Attendees will hear from a dynamic keynote speaker along with a Gen Z panel of local leaders who will share honest insight into what motivates emerging talent, how they define success, and what they are truly looking for in a workplace culture. The discussion will also explore common misconceptions between generations and highlight the unique strengths each generation brings to the table.

This educational event is designed to help organizations strengthen leadership, improve communication, and elevate talent attraction and retention efforts in today’s ever-changing workforce environment.

At Dignity Memorial, we believe strong communities are built through education, collaboration, and understanding. We are proud to support conversations that help bridge generations and create stronger workplaces for the future.

World Hunger Day is May 28th — a day dedicated to raising awareness about global food insecurity and the sustainable solutions that can help end hunger for millions around the world.

Founded in 2011 by The Hunger Project, World Hunger Day reminds us that hunger is not inevitable. Through community support, education, and sustainable development, real change is possible.

Today, nearly 2.4 billion people worldwide experience moderate or severe food insecurity, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization. Even in developed nations, many families continue to struggle due to rising grocery costs, limited access to affordable food, and economic hardships.

This day serves as a reminder that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful impact. Supporting local food pantries, donating meals, volunteering, or simply helping a neighbor in need can bring hope to someone facing uncertainty. ❤️

Dignity Memorial is proud to support efforts that strengthen and care for our community. Hunger affects families, children, seniors, and neighbors right here in Fort Wayne, and together we can help make a difference.

Help feed the hungry in our community by donating food or other needed items to local organizations making an impact every day, including Community Harvest Food Bank, Miss Virginia’s Food Pantry, Wellspring Interfaith Social Services, East Wayne Street Center, and The Lighthouse. These organizations continue to provide food, staples, resources, and hope to families throughout our community.

Together, we can help build stronger, healthier communities where no one has to wonder where their next meal will come from.

Think about the past and consider the sacrifices men and women in the military have made for us.”
— Gary G. Wetzel

Memorial Day is about more than cookouts, fireworks, potlucks, or getting together with friends and family. It is a day to reflect on the incredible sacrifices made by the brave men and women who gave their lives so we could enjoy the freedoms we have today. Freedom was never free, and this holiday is a reminder of the price that was paid for our nation.

This Memorial Day, Dignity Memorial honors those courageous heroes whose sacrifice, bravery, and dedication will never be forgotten.

We invite you and your family to visit one of our three cemeteries to remember loved ones, reflect on cherished memories, and honor those who served our country with pride and courage:

📅 Sunday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM
📅 Monday: 10:00 AM – 3:00 PM

May we all pause this Memorial Day to remember the fallen, honor their legacy, and cherish the freedoms they fought to protect. ❤️🤍💙

🍵 May 21st is International Tea Day! 🍵

For more than 5,000 years, tea has brought people together through comfort, conversation, healing, and tradition. Today, tea continues to play an important role around the world — supporting millions of families and small farmers while connecting cultures across generations.

International Tea Day is a time to celebrate the rich heritage, health benefits, and global impact of tea, while also recognizing the importance of sustainable practices “from field to cup” so future generations can continue to enjoy this timeless tradition.

At Dignity Memorial, we understand how meaningful simple moments can be. A warm cup of tea shared with family, friends, or loved ones can bring comfort, reflection, and connection during both joyful and difficult times. It’s often the little traditions that create the most lasting memories. 💚

So today, slow down, pour yourself a cup, and enjoy a moment of peace and togetherness. ☕

Memorial Day began after the Civil War as a day to honor military personnel who died in service to the United States. Today, it remains a solemn national observance dedicated specifically to fallen service members, distinguishing it from Veterans Day, which recognizes all U.S. military veterans.

Common Memorial Day traditions include:

Visiting cemeteries and memorials
Participating in parades and ceremonies
Displaying the U.S. flag at half-staff until noon
Observing the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00 p.m. local time
Spending time with family while reflecting on the sacrifices of fallen troops

U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs notes that Memorial Day became a federal holiday in 1971 and is observed on the last Monday in May each year.

During this time of remembrance, Dignity Memorial is here to assist families with compassionate support, personalized memorial services, and meaningful ways to honor the lives and legacies of loved ones. Dignity Memorial also offers a free Veterans Planning Guide to all veterans. Stop by any of our funeral homes or cemeteries to receive yours and learn more about honoring military service with dignity and care.

Preplanning a funeral is one of the most caring and selfless gifts you can leave for your loved ones. By documenting your end-of-life wishes — whether it’s choosing burial or cremation, selecting the type of service you would like, or adding meaningful personal touches that reflect your life — you help relieve your family of difficult decisions during a time of grief.

Preplanning can include both pre-arrangement, where your wishes are thoughtfully documented, and optional pre-funding, which allows you to prepay and lock in today’s prices for tomorrow’s needs. Families are often comforted knowing everything has been planned with care, giving them peace of mind when they need it most.

Many people also do not realize that cemetery needs can be preplanned as well. From selecting a final resting place, memorial property, mausoleum space, or personalized memorial options, planning ahead allows families to make thoughtful decisions together without added stress or uncertainty later on.

As Memorial Day approaches on Monday, May 25, we pause to remember and honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

Originally known as “Decoration Day,” Memorial Day began as a time for communities to come together, decorate graves with flowers and flags, and pay tribute to those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

While many will gather with family and friends over the holiday weekend, let us also take a moment to reflect on the true meaning of Memorial Day — honoring the heroes who served with courage, sacrifice, and love for our nation.

Their legacy lives on in our hearts, and their service will never be forgotten. ❤️🤍💙

During National Police Week (May 10–16, 2026), we pause to honor the brave men and women of law enforcement who serve and protect our communities with courage, dedication, and compassion. We also remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and the families who carry their legacy forward. 💙
At Dignity Memorial, we are proud to support and serve the families of first responders with care, respect, and compassion during life’s most difficult moments. We are deeply grateful for the sacrifices made every day by law enforcement officers and their loved ones.
Please join us this week in showing appreciation for those who protect our communities and in honoring the heroes we will never forget.

National Nurses Week 2026
May 6–12 marks National Nurses Week, a time to honor and recognize the extraordinary role nurses play in our lives every single day. Nurses are often the steady hand in moments of uncertainty—the ones who comfort patients, support families, and bring both skill and compassion to every bedside. They work tirelessly to heal, to advocate, to listen, and to care, often putting others before themselves.
We recognize all nurses for the dedication, empathy, and strength they show each day. Their impact goes far beyond medical care—they bring reassurance, dignity, and hope to those who need it most. We are deeply grateful for the difference they make in so many lives.
